Ghibliotheque - A Podcast About Animation and Studio Ghibli
Welcome to the Ghibliotheque, the podcast that leafs through libraries of films from the world’s greatest animation studios. In 2018, Michael Leader, an avowed Studio Ghibli fanatic, sat down with Jake Cunningham, who had never seen any of the Studio’s work before. Together they looked at the history behind Ghibli's films (including Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and Princess Mononoke), and got a critical perspective from Jake as a first-time viewer. They covered all of Studio Ghibli's films, visited Japan on the ultimate Ghibli pilgrimage, and have since interviewed artists, animators and filmmakers who have either worked on or have been deeply inspired by Ghibli's films. With their co-host Steph Watts, they have also branched out to cover filmographies of other studios and filmmakers whose work has revolutionised animation, from Satoshi Kon and Mamoru Hosoda to Cartoon Saloon and Henry Selick. Great Pod But I can barely Hear You

I love their insights in animated films and the industry as a whole. I’ve been finding lately though I have the volume all the way up on my headphones and the audio is still quite low and I have to strain a bit to hear, especially with background noises around me. Keep up the great episodes!
Found This After FFC

I’m a huge fan of Maisie’s podcast Frank Film Club, and I thoroughly enjoyed the episode where Jake was a guest there. Before that, I had no idea there was an entire podcast dedicated to lovers of Miyazaki’s films. This was a big find, indeed. I myself very nearly led the charge against Jake when he said that he thought ‘Mononoke’ was boring. BUT, after hearing his explanation, I can at least see where he’s coming from, even if I agree or not. I am glad that he walked it back after his re-watch though. Would have been a hassle to lead a mob to his door to punish the heresy. Anyway, great podcast, very well put together. I’ll look forward to checking out more episodes.
seriously thank you for this podcast
