I only listen to GHR mf come asking all the time what I’m listening to. I think the feature of house/EDM genre is that it is literally blendable with ANY other genre…and as music runs so deep in our collective identities and communities, the broader music artistry is one of the few apparatuses that serves as a conduit that is the shared connection through music that enfranchises the reconciliation of disparate societal and cultural regions—the diversity in GHR is amazing. Full stop. The remixing and re-remixing of popular artists and music spanning generational divides—in so doing it now reconciles cultures and individuals across both a geospatial plane and equally across a temporal one. The greatest artists from all the moments throughout history, they were masters in their own right and the intermediary of house in between both time and space…it allows artifacts separated in time to become appreciated by a generation that was yet to come. From Diplo’s knowledgeable and masterful mix of some of the most iconic and well loved country anthems that people have grown up listening to… now I have come to appreciate the oft denigrated and excluded and at the same time apparently largest genre within the market…anthems I can appreciate…we go from that seemingly incompatible genre types…to a girl from idk when like the 60s, Peggy Lee…Motart…the spots on air were so short…and for however much House is about various tentions with the tempo…Mozart was on those same vibes only instrumentally rather than the omnipresent digital. Songs of the ages, Summertime Sadness, Lenny Kravitz, No Doubt $ Stefani, so many 90s cuts and aughts that I grew up with and recently saw a trending resurgence of the era that continues today with boy band groups having entirely novel economic cycling at scale, or so I’ve heard. Alright so I apologize for all of that, if any has submitted to the impressive time commitment to parse this novel, I just want to say thank you Josser… Peace, Love and GHR 🙃

Love your show! I’ve listened for foreverrrrr!!!! I’ve been listening to house since I bought Chicago DJ Mix Tape Demos from a cell phone accessories store in 1995 in Madison, WI. The guy would drive down to Chicago and pick up stuff and drive back. We would go buy them on a Friday and then listen to them all weekend.
