Global Bluenosers is the story of those who have left the shores of their province to explore the world. We introduce you to the province they love by asking them one important question: "If you had only 24 Hours in Nova Scotia, what would you do?"

You don't leave Nova Scotia, it becomes part of you I Angela de Burger in Montpellier, France

In this episode, Sean is joined by Angela de Burger — a Nova Scotia–raised communications leader, creative, and podcaster now living in southern France. Angela reflects on growing up in Dartmouth, shaped by a deeply rooted sense of community, creativity, and openness that continues to influence how she lives and works today. She shares her journey across Canada and into the nonprofit and social impact sector, before COVID became a catalyst for reinvention — launching a consulting practice, embracing remote work, and ultimately making the leap to France with just two suitcases. Throughout the conversation, Angela returns to a central theme: Nova Scotia’s culture of connection, collaboration, and belonging never really leaves you.  Angela also discusses The Creative Pulse, her podcast exploring the creative passions that light people up, including many artists and creators with strong ties to Nova Scotia.  And of course, she walks us through her perfect 24 Hours back home in Nova Scotia.  When listening to Angela’s podcast, start with this great list of episodes that feature guests with strong Nova Scotia ties: Ep 02: Carla Brown - Creative Reuse ArtistEp 09: Emma FitzGerald - Illustrator and AuthorEp 12: Hasmeet Singh Chandok and Kunwar Singh -Bhangra Dancers and Joyful Activists (from the Maritime Bhangra Group)Ep 19: Jason Davis – Opera Singer, Vocal Teacherand Stage DirectorEp 30: Paul de Burger - Photographer, Musician,Speaker and AuthorEp 31: Tracey Erin Smith - Founder of SOULOTheatreEp 35: Joanne MacLennan - Canadian LandscapeArtistEp 55: Wendy Goudie - Creative Movement ExpertEp 56: John Goudie - Creative Arts ProducerEp 77: Phillip Bailey - Hand-Drawn Map MakerEp 127: Alexandria Masse - Textile Artist andSculptor____________________________________ Global Bluenosers is brought to you by Halifax Stanfield, Atlantic Canada’s airport hub working to accelerate the growth of our communities by connecting people and goods to the world. "Do you know Sidney Crosby?" I Candace Curphy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

This week, Sean connects with Candace Curphy, a Nova Scotia native now living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — the adopted home of famous Bluenoser, Sidney Crosby. Born in Queens County and raised between the South Shore and the Valley, Candace shares stories of growing up in a two-room schoolhouse, summer days at Cameron Lake, and how the move to the U.S. reshaped her sense of identity. From volleyball courts in Pennsylvania to life in big American cities, she’s carried her Nova Scotian roots with pride — even if she had to lose the accent along the way. Sean and Candace talk about how Home takes on new meaning once you’ve left it, the subtle things that bring it back — from hearing bagpipes at the border to seeing Kraft Dinner on the shelf — and how Nova Scotians abroad become some of the province’s greatest ambassadors. And when given 24 hours back home? Candace’s dream itinerary includes canoeing on Cameron Lake, a stop at Summerville Beach, ice cream from Seaside Takeout, fish and chips in Lunenburg, and a night in Halifax with live music. ____________________________________ Global Bluenosers is brought to you by Halifax Stanfield, Atlantic Canada’s airport hub working to accelerate the growth of our communities by connecting people and goods to the world.
