I just listened to the first episode and can't wait to listen to the rest. You are 100% correct: this info is not taught in schools. Eg: many massacres (Indian genocide) between 1846 and 1871. Your webpage mentions Gov Burnett. In addition to his treatment of blacks, in 1850, he gave free bullets and offered a bounty for "proof of executed Indians-scalps, heads, hands, and bodies "...including women and children! Or even look up Tulare Lake...formerly the largest lake west if the mississippi and life for the Yokuts...dried up because of white farmers. I know the focus so far is on black and indigenous peoples, but I hope you also explore the Chinese, the Japanese, and even the Californios i.e. the spanish and mestizo people who had lived in California since the 1700's (and who stole land and enslaved indigenous people for the Catholic Church) were also taken advantage of after the gold rush. They were considered Mexicans: lazy, shiftless. Their property was stolen. All taxes and legal papers were in English, not Spanish. Like blacks, the eyewitness testimony of 2 californios was not as credible as one drunk white guy. My Nana's oldest brother was shot point blank by Edward Singleton in 1903 in Benjamin's Saloon on a Sunday afternoon. Because of the Internet, I have been able to locate the newspaper articles or at least some of them from that time and have found that they supported with my grandmother said. Anyway, thank you so much for this podcast in this webpage. I look forward to more. The host is fabulous. Thank you again
