  1. Week 13 College Football: The Race For The Playoffs!

Week 13 College Football: The Race For The Playoffs!

Week 13 College Football From Guys at the Bar Talking Sports www.guysatthebartalkingsports.com Venmo: @guysatthebartalkingsports Last weeks games Oregon Vs Wisconsin- showed Oregon weakness winning 16-13. Oregon could not score most of the game. Offense was not able to get momentum. Oregon has a tough game ahead no mater who they play in the Big 10 championship. South Carolina Vs Mizzu- Carolina did squeeze out this win in the end. 34-30 win. Very exciting final 2 minutes. Should gamecocks fans be as euphoric as they seem around Columbia, or should the face the reality that yes they have had a decent season, and next year with the Sellars leadership they should maintain a similar trajectory. Florida Vs LSU- big upset, much needed for the gators. Their first significant win for the program in a while. All season they were looming for this. Should Brian Kelly begin packing up now? BYU loses to Kansas- huge loss for the big12, and a nail in the coffin for speculation that 2 teams might make the playoffs from the Big12. 17-13 to the 4-6 Jayhawks. Tennessee loss to UGA- the game was even till the half, but the second half was all Georgia. 31-17 in the end. Both teams are now among the multiple 8-2 teams in the SEC. Carson Beck had no interceptions. This is what happens when they play clean football. New Mexico Beats Washington State- let’s clear the air of speculation of what they do with a 1 loss Washington State. All this loss did was help lose some of the baggage going into December for some of these teams that over perform because of the weakness of their competitors. 38-35 Questions of the Week What if we end up with 6 2 Loss SEC teams at the end of the season? How does that affect the SEC championship games loser, and do they let 6 SEC teams in to the playoffs? Should Brian Kelly Start looking for a new job now? Shane Beamer has had a fantastic season so far defying all expectations. Should we start looking at this team for a potential SEC championship run in 2025? So at the end of the season the 120 man roster goes away, with it now being maxed at 105 players. Is this good for college football? This is gong to effect 2000 players in FBS, also FCS, and ever lower level football team. Week 13’s big games: #9 Ole Miss at Florida- #5 Indiana at #2 Ohio State- #16 Colorado at Kansas- Upset alert…. Beat BYU last week #14 BYU at #21 Arizona State- #18 Army at #6 Notre Dame- both navy and army have very similar offenses, and Notre dame handled Navy just fine. Does an upset look like it’s on the horizon? #15 Texas A&M at Auburn- Kentucky at #3 Texas

WEEK 12 COLLEGE FOOTBALL www.guysatthebartalkingsports.com Venmo: @guysatthebartalkingsports Twitter X: GuyTalksSports Facebook: search Guys at the Bar Talking Sports Search us on: YouTube, Apple Podcasts , YouTube Music, Spotify! Last Week’s Games LSU losing to Alabama at home 42-13- giving Alabama a lot of credit for what they were able to do, go into Baton Rouge and dominate. Jaylon Milroe Ran the ball 185 yards and had 4 TD’s. Brian Kelly said they had a plan to stop the QB run….. better go back to the drawing board on that one. Also 3 turnovers doesn’t help the cause. Milroe has shown himself to be competent this season, and Kaylen Debore is coaching effectively to win games. South Carolina beats Vandy 28-7- Vandy looked like Vandy on Saturday. Carolina dominated the second half. 452 yards. Rocket Sanders is such a talent at running back. Fun to watch. Always running down hill and terrific at breaking tackles to get a few more yards. Ole Miss Beat Georgia 28-10- let’s pick this thing apart. Most of us went with Georgia last week because it really came down to Ole Miss not being successful on both sides of the ball all season. When I came right down to it though, Kirby smart tried 4 times on 4th down and was unsuccessful 3 times. they had 3 turnovers, and Ole Miss was able to hold them to 10 points. Georgia Tech beat Miami 28-23- I love to see these games come right down to the end. Georgia Tech students rushed that field, taking down the #4 team in the country. Miami put up 430 yards, and moved the ball well. But Georgia tech won time of possession, ran the ball effectively, and squeezed out a win. Virginia beat Pitt- 24-19BYU beat Utah- 22-21 Questions of the Week: Are we getting close to settling in on a Heisman front runner?Every year with the 4 team playoff in mid November we were able to safely say it would work itself out. This year with the 12 team playoff do y’all really think it’s gonna work itself out? Do we need to get back to divisions in these conferences soon? Next Week’s Games: Utah at #18 Colorado- potential upset? Utah held tight on defense against BYU. I think this one may end up ending Colorado’s dreams for a Playoff Run.#17 Clemson at Pitt; potential upset? Both teams still have a chance to play in the ACC championship game. #21 LSU at Florida- this one is clearly winnable by Florida. It does not have any implications to anyone other than me. Florida got wrecked by Texas, LSU got wrecked by Alabama. Boston College at #14 SMU: potential upset? Boston College is certainly a sneaky team that can pull upsets. Virginia at #8Notre Dame- everyone keeps thinking Notre Dame is going to pull a Notre Dame and choke late in the season. #6 Tennessee at #11 Georgia- this will determine Tennessee’s run for the SEC championship. It’s a must win. Georgia does not control anything now, except keep winning and stay in the top 12, if they lose they are out.#23 South Carolina vs #24 Mizzu- Mizzu has a legit chance if they keep winning to some how make the playoff. Yes they are number 24, but they only have 2 losses. It’s in the mix for them. Unlikely but possible. Thank you!

  3. College Football Week 11

    NOV 7

    College Football Week 11

Intros- what was the best sports year of your life…. Meaning all your teams did well/exceeded expectations/or just plain exciting. All sports…. 05-07- Patriots won Super Bowl, Red Sox had just won the World Series on 04, gators were on top in both basketball and Football. Even the Celtics were getting ready to win the NBA championship in 2008. Top 12 poll from Tuesday Night 1. Oregon 2. Georgia 3. Miami 4. BYU 5. Texas 6. Ohio State 7. Tennessee 8. Penn State 9. Indiana 10. Notre Dame 11. Alabama 12. Boise State What if Scenario: 1. What if SMU wins out, and beats Miami in the ACC championship? 2. What if Iowa State wins out and plays undefeated BYU and wins the Big12 championship? 3. I see 4 1 loss big ten teams going into December. Ohio State rematches Oregon in the Big Championship and loses. We are seriously looking a 4 big 10 teams then. If OSU loses to Oregon, do they just get dropped to a 10 seed? Still 4 in the playoff Last weeks games 1. Florida vs Georgia- sadly I had to watch the gators season go down in flames as DJ Lagway’s injury is likely season ending. Florida led at the half off of 3 interceptions, and capitalizing on them. But you can see the defense and offense change once Lagway left the game. They still wanted to win, but there was doubt. With Lagway in there was no doubt. Georgia has some problems to deal with on offense and defense if they want to win a Natty. 2. South Carolina vs Texas A&M- game of the week in my opinion. Texas A&M just never figured out this Gamecocks defense. They were all over TAMU’s Qb, and the Tamu defense could not seem to tackle these Gamecock receivers and Sellers. 3. Clemson loss to Louisville- Louisville pounced on these tigers on Saturday. going up 26-7 by the end of Q3. The quick Louisville offense really threw the Clemson defense for a loop. 4. Oregon beats Michigan - last week Mt Man said that of the 110,000 people in the stadium none could play Qb. Clearly the only one who could play Qb last week was Dillon Gabriel. 294 yards passing, clean football by Oregon over all. Those 110k fans did not affect Oregon at all. 2 five yard penalties, 10/15 on 3rd down. This crowd was silenced by Q2, and probably leaving by mid-q3. 5. Penn State loss to Ohio State- sort of a defensive battle between these two teams on Saturday. The coaches both trashed for never winning the big game. Ryan Day comes out on top. Still some weakness around Ohio State, but the oline showed some Questions of the week 1. Does anyone feel like depth has been reduced on teams causing more parody in the SEC and Big10 and elsewhere? 2. Games of the Week 11 1. #20 Colorado at Texas Tech- coach prime is going into this game at 6-2 coming off a bye week. Texas Tech is 6-3. Colorado is favored by 3 2. #19 Clemson at Virginia Tech- after last weeks performance I suspect Clemson got a second wake up call for the season. Virginia Tech was looked at as a potential threat in the ACC this season, 3. Michigan at #8 Indiana- Michigan has had 1 win in 4 weeks. They are still working out the QB problems. Unbeaten Indiana hopes to stay that way. Kurtis Rourke has been exceptional at QB for the Hoosiers. Michigan does not have the defense to keep him out of the end zone. 4. #2 Georgia at #16 Ole Miss- big matchup this weekend. Ole Miss has 2 losses, and they don’t want that 3rd one. A win against Georgia will give the credibility to take a top 12 spot with two losses. Georgia struggled against Florida and Kentucky this season, Will the Jaxon Dart offense be to much for the Georgia Defense? 5. #11 Alabama at #14 LSU- both teams are 6-2, both teams have playoff chances on the line here. hey are going to Death Valley at night. 6. #9 BYU at Utah- undefeated BYU looks to keep their record on tarnished. Utah was the powerhouse in the mountains of the Pac 12 7. South Carolina at Vanderbilt - coming off a huge win against Texas A&M last week. The gamecocks certainly want to knock out another ranked oppone

Alabama beats Mizzu- 34-0. 2. Pitt beats Syracuse 41-13 3. Boise State beats UNLV- 29-24. 4. Ohio State beats Nebraska 21-17: Ohio state was lethargic this game. The offensive line struggled.. 5. Texas Beats Vandy- 27-24. 6. Texas A&M beats LSU 38-23: both of these teams were playing to be at the top of the SEC, Looking at Week 10 CFB 1. Pitt at SMU- ACC leaders, Pitt has been winning but not blowing anyone out to bad except Syracuse last weekend, while SMU is fairly solid offensively but lacking defensively. This could be a really close game in my opinion. SMU is a 7.5 point favorite, probably because they are expected to score easily. Pitt showed they can play though, forcing turnovers and interceptions. This could be close, with Pitt even coming out on top. 2. Duke at Miami- coach: Mario Cristobal. Cam Ward is QB.Duke held their own against SMU last week. Losing in OT by a point. They have no trust in their kicker, and will have to figure out that piece to beat Miami. Probably have to figure out a lot. ,Miami has had some close calls. Virginia Tech, Cal and Louisville all 1 possession games. Duke is probably at par with those 3 teams, maybe even having a better defense. Only 1 team put up more than the 28 points SMU put up. 3. Texas A&M at South Carolina-coach: Beamer and Mike Elko. QB Conner Wiegman or Marcel Reed: I should buy tickets to this game, because SC at home is going to be huge against TAMU. Texas A&M is running on all cylinders right now, looking well coached, with players who believe they can come from no where and win it all. The gamecocks of put some good games together while slacking on others, so, depending on which team we got, this could be an upset for the week. 4. Florida vs Georgia: Billy Napier and Kirby Smart. QB; DJ Lagway and Carson Beck: obviously on paper Georgia is the better team this season, but they are not the team they have been from total production standpoint. Gators are still trying to figure things out with DJ Lagway replacing an injured Graham Mertz.. 5. Clemson vs Louisville- coach: Dabo Swinney and Jeff Brohm. QB Cade Clubmick. since their loss to Georgia Clemson has been wrecking their opponents. Louisville is mid-tier at best, with a good offense, but little defense. Clemson wins 6. Oregon at Michigan- coach: Dan Lanning and Sherrone Moore. QB: Dillon Gabriel: how to be relevant this season, beat Oregon in the big house. Michigan has not found their place yet though. Oregon just has to many weapons on both sides of the ball to play down to Michigans level. 7. Ohio State at Penn State: Ryan Day. James Franklin. QB: possible that Penn States QB Drew Allar is out, and a true freshman will be in. Will Howard has the chops to win this game, as long as they play aggressively and he can get the protection needed by a young offensive line.

  5. College Football Week 9

    OCT 23

    College Football Week 9

Week 9 College Football Looking Back 1. Miami at Louisville - exceptional football game, Miami pulled it off, but fun to watch. Almost 100 points put up and 4 td’s in the 4th quarter. Does this help Miami legitimize Miami’s story yet? 2. Indiana wrecked Nebraska 56-7- no one thought this would happen. Nebraska defense was on their heals the entire game. Dylan Raiola showed his lack of experience, throwing 3 interceptions. Indiana just curb stomped Matt Rules Cornhuskers. 495 yards of total offense by Indiana. 3. Tennessee 24-Alabama 17- the first half was pretty low key, with only 7 points scored by Alabama, Tennessee was actually looking rough. 3 turnovers. That changed in the second half, Tennessee scored twice, going up 14-10. Really came down to discipline on Tennessee side, and them wearing down Alabama enough to win. They were able to run the ball, and defensively they got plenty of stops. 4. LSU beat Arkansas 34-10: I thought we had a potential upset only our hands going into the week. Arkansas has played some good football, but they did not play well on Saturday. 3 turnovers and 15 first downs as compared to 25 first downs for LSU. That does not win games. LSU held Arkansas to 38 yards rushing on 19 carries. 5. Georgia 30 Texas 15- taking Quinn Ewers out of the game sure did spur some conversation during and after that game, but later Sarcquisian made it clear that Ewers is his starter. But even the manning name doesn’t scare the bull dogs. Carson Beck wasnt even really on his game, he threw 3 interceptions. Georgia stuck to their running game and solid defense, blowing out Texas in the first half 22-0. Hard to come back from that, but Texas tried. Scoring all 15 points in the 3rd quarter, but not getting any fiurther than that. 6. Iowa State barely beat UCF 38-35- iowa state allowed 354 rushing yards against UCF, they are ranked #10 the highest ranked big12 team. They better tighten up that run defense if they are gonna win in the playoffs Questions of the week: Lets take a look at the potential conference Championship situation: SEC- Texas A&M and LSU are unbeaten, Georgia, Tennessee, Mizzu, Texas and Vandy are 1 conference loss. ACC- Clemson, Miami, Pitt, SMU, unbeaten, but Duke Syracuse and Virginia Tech can still write their own ticket with 1 loss B1G- Indiana, Oregon, Penn State unbeaten, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio State- 1 loss Big12- BYU, Iowa State- unbeaten k-state, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Colorado 1 confrence loss AAC- Army, Navy, Tulane are all in the running, since none have lost a conference game Others - safe to say no other conference champs will make playoffs just because of the dominance of the ACC so far. Do UNLV or Boise State make it in? It comes down to highest ranked G5 conference winning team in the committee’s poll. UNLV plays Boise State Week 9 Games 1. #8 LSU at #14 Texas A&M- both of these teams are exceeding my expectations so far. I think they are on par with analysts. TAMU only loss is to Notre Dame, while LSU lost to USC. Both undefeated in conference play. One will get out alive. 2. #5 Texas at #25 Vanderbilt-Texas gets stuck with Vandy on their schedule 3. #21 Missouri at #15 Alabama- Mizzu at 6-1 has barely floated by the last several games they’ve played. Especially against any Power 4 team. 4. #12 Notre Dame at #24 Navy- Notre Dame has the #5 Scoring Defense in the country only giving up 12 points per game on average. They are not exceptional against the rush though. Giving up 113 yards per game, ranked 30th in the country.. 5. Washington at #13 Indiana- Indiana should win this game easily. Washington played Iowa, who lacks consistency on offense yet put up 40 points. 6. #20 Illinois at #1 Oregon- if Oregon can beat Ohio State, you’d think they will be fin against Illinois. Purdue put up 49 against Illinois. 7. #22 SMU at Duke- I’m surprised that Duke is not ranked right now. Both teams are 6-1 contending for a spot in the ACC championship. SMU does p

    College Football Week 8

Man what an interesting college football season we’ve got going here, and we get to talk about it on this show. Welcome all of you to another action packed week of Guys at the Bar talking sports. We get the pleasure every week to drink beer and whiskey while discussing college football, not much better of a way to make a living. This week we’ll discussing week 8 college football and looking back on week 7 And certainly we want to make a living at this, so if you want to help at minimum support our drinking habits you can Venmo us some beer money at guysatthebartalkingsports. That is our Venmo name. Guysatthebartalkingsports. Surprisingly we have that as our web address, and Facebook group name also. https://www.guysatthebartalkingsports.com Looking back Ohio state at OregonArizona State Beat Utah with Cam rising back. Utah now dropped out of the top 25, I am hearing rumors that Rising a 6 year senior might sit out the rest of the season, and come back next. His hand injury caused him to go 16/37 with 3 interceptions. Is this guys college football career finished? Alabama almost lost to the gamecocks- Discipline issues suspected in Tuscaloosa? Are the gamecocks better than the story their record shows? Penn State Struggling against USC- showed some major weakness. Still won by 3 in overtime. Moved up to #3 in the polls. Jo’Quavious Marks put up 111 yards.Texas vs Oklahoma- Texas controlled that game so well. Is Texas head and shoulders better than everyone else?Kansas State beats Colorado- there was so much hype around Colorado going into this game with both teams at 4-1. I think Colorado and Deion are finding their way slowly in the dark, but this is not the season they’ll reach the top. Questions for the Week Ashton Jeanty. On track to beat Barry sanders records? 1380 yards away and 20 touchdowns from Barry sanders single season record with six games remaining.Of the undefeated teams in the Big10 we have Indiana, Penn State and Oregon. None play each other. All have a semi easy road to undefeated. Oregon, Penn State and Indiana will play Ohio State…… is that going to determine who makes the championship game? Who beats OSU by the most points? Liberty, Army and Navy are the only group of 5 teams left who are undefeated. Army and Navy play on December 14th. AAC championship game is Dec 6th. Does this schedule conflict hurt their chances of a playoff berth? I’m starting to think Liberty will not be a playoff contender just because of their strength of schedule, since we have some strong competition in the other conferences. Games for the Week #1 Texas vs #5 Georgia- Texas seams unbeatable to me. Top 10 in total offense and total defense. And home field advantage. Nebraska At #16 Indiana- Indiana’s undefeated Nebraska’s five and one I don’t think I’ve seen this type of matchup in years between these two teams#7 Alabama at #11 Tennessee- huge potential for both of these teams to establish themselves now that they both have one loss.#24 Michigan at #22 Illinois- Michigan is just trying to hold on to relevancy, while Illinois is trying to establish themselves as relevant#12 Notre Dame at Georgia Tech- they can play some ball this season, and Notre Dame has lost too much worse than Georgia Tech.#8 LSU at Arkansas- Arkansas definitely has the ability to be LSU. They are a good team despite their record. They are at home so at least an hour to deal with death Valley.South Carolina at Oklahoma- I think the gamecocks are looking for some sort of big win right now which they need. Challenge is going to be going into Oklahoma trying to be a team that just came off of a loss.

Our handle is @guysatthebartalkingsports on Venmo.  Ryan Williams from Alabama, what a phenomena he is. I just want to share that. The body concoctions he had to do to catch passes against Georgia. That 17 year old is going to be a star. Look back:  Miami vs Virginia Tech- controversy surrounding the refs calls more than once including the final call that gave Miami the win- 38-34Minnesota vs Michigan- Michigan barely squeezes this win out- 27-24Kentucky vs Ole Miss- huge upset- Kentucky wins 20-17Georgia Vs Alabama, instant classic. Literally why we watch football. Alabama up 21 points in the first quarter. Georgia fights their way back. Takes the lead with a minute left. But Milrow connects for a TD pass and seals the win, 41-34. Arizona takes out #10 Utah. Arizona got their first Big12 win in a 23-10 victory against Utah. Isaac Wilson threw 2 interceptions and was 20/40. Notre Dame exactly the best performance in his Devon start as Cam Rising recovers from injury  Questions for the week: Will we get to watch Liberty play app state?BYU is winning the Big12 right now. Great QB play, if they stay healthy, looking at there schedule they may be undefeated. If they lose the Big 12 championship but only have that lose, are they still in the playoff?Big12- BYU, Colorado, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas State and Utah all look like contenders to win. What if Colorado beats Kansas State on the 12th? They then play Texas Tech, Utah and Oklahoma State in November. Do they fall apart from here? James Madison scored 176 points in 4 games. They are on fire it seems and put up 70 points against UNC. They can easily go undefeated with a very light schedule left. Would they take the place of an undefeated liberty as the group of 5 playoff spot just because they beat UNC?Heisman race: Jaylen Milroe, Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty- Boise State  Games of the week: Michigan State at #6 Oregon- Experts are predicting a challenging game for Michigan State as they face #6 Oregon. Here are some key points. Oregon’s Strengths: Oregon is expected to leverage their home advantage at Autzen Stadium. Despite only covering the spread once in four games this season, they are seen as strong contenders Michigan State’s Defense: Michigan State’s defense has been highlighted for its ability to get to the quarterback, ranking 12th in the country in sacks2. This could be crucial in limiting Oregon’s offensive plays. Predictions: Many experts believe that Oregon will handle the game well at home, especially given Michigan State’s recent struggles#9 Mizzu at Texas A&M- for Mizzu this is a must win game to stay relevant. Texas A&M is favored by 1.5 points. The key to this game  for Mizzu is Brady Cook taking control of this game early, which he’s struggled to do all season. Texas A&M has played well at home. Starter Conner Wigman may be back this game. #12 Ole Miss at South Carolina coming off of devastating lost in Kentucky. The only way Ole Miss stays relevant is to win this game.Iowa at #3 Ohio State Rutgers at Nebraska #25 UNLV at Syracuse #4 Tennessee at Arkansas M
