HARMONIZING OUR WILL WITH GOD'S IN PRAYER The Lord instructed us to raise altars because through prayer we permit God to intervene in man's affairs. However, our prayers must align with God's divine purpose; Our will must harmonize with His. God's will towards us is that we increase but He waits on us to call on Him. (Ezekiel 36:37, Isaiah 45:11, Jeremiah 33:3) Though God is the Lord of the land, He gave dominion over the earth to the children of men therefore man has to align Himself to God's instructions. ( Psalms 24:1 and 115:16) Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; God gave man a will which He respects; it is, therefore, up to us to exercise our willpower well by aligning it to His perfect will. That is the reason why we pray: that we may harmonize our will with that of heaven because God only shows Himself strong to those who agree with His will. 2 Chronicles 16:9 Matthew 18:18-19 Prayer is not just asking for anything but it must be in agreement with the will of the Father. When man's will is not in agreement with God's, God is restrained and restricted. Psalms 139:16 NLT God's plan concerning man was laid before he was even formed. That is why we must pray in the name of Jesus and yield to the Holy Spirit so that He empowers our prayers to ensure that whatever we request for is in line with the will of the Father. He searches the deep things of God and unveils them to us. Prayer did not originate from man; it is God's idea and is facilitated by Him. Therefore, what matters as we pray is not what we say but what He says to us because that is His perfect will. Jeremiah 6:16 In prayer, we must seek the old pathways which God has laid concerning us, because that is what He hears, reinforces and backs up. Prayer is therefore waiting on God until He unveils His will, then we synchronize, harmonize and agree with it. For example; Jesus in Matthew 26 had His will, but He was careful enough to submit it to the will of the Father. To know how to pray is to understand that we are helpless and submit to the help of the Holy Spirit so that He unveils the will of the Father for our lives then make continuous heartfelt prayers in line with it and avail much.
