The Revealer

As an extension of the online magazine the Revealer, this podcast explores the social and political roles religion plays throughout the world. How should we make sense of religion's influence on politics, sexuality, race, and people's everyday lives? Produced by NYU's Center for Religion and Media and hosted by Dr. Brett Krutzsch, each month we'll sit down with experts to discuss how religion shapes our world. Join us for this important conversation.

Broad, Welcoming, Thorough

I *love* this show & magazine. Brett is a dream interviewer: clarifying questions that encourage scholars to get to the heart of why their work matters to general, non-specialists like me. The scope is enormous. The conversations always engaging. If you’re looking for a show about scholarship in religion? There isn’t another podcast that comes close to delivering this kind of breadth with generosity and clarity.

I love this podcast. You will hear big ideas here FIRST - directly from the researchers and professors doing the work. Their passion always comes through and they are always appreciative of the host’s thoughtful questions. A professor hosting professors.
Fascinating

I’ve loved all the different topics this podcast covers. The guests are fascinating, and I’ve learned several things each episode. I especially liked the one on Hasidic heretics.
Informative and interesting

I enjoy The Revealer articles as they are informative and thought provoking. The podcasts add a welcome layer in that the listener is able to hear the writer’s voice, opinion and some nuances on their articles that you can’t always get from just the written word. I’m looking forward to listening to more!
Yoga and Emotional Health

I have appreciated finding this space both as a graduate of NYU and as one keenly interested in the topic of religion and society. Loved many of your articles thus far but found this podcast and the article on yoga and religion quite disappointing, shortsighted and misleading. I am a yoga teacher, yoga teacher’s trainer and certified yoga therapist who has studied yoga for more than 30 years. What was discussed here had little to do with yoga and religion and all to do with white centered western interpretation of yoga ( save the bit about yoga and racism) and the physical aspect of yoga. Very limiting and ignorant about what yoga is or is meant to evoke. Would prefer more enlightened questioning around this subject and of course someone with a greater knowledge, sensitivity and training on this subject- not just someone with an Indian name and PhD. Goat yoga??? You both can’t believe this is real yoga or drinking and cursing is yoga in all seriousness. Cultural appropriation and yoga yes! Please if you discuss this subject in the context of religion can you give it the same seriousness and intelligent investigation you would give other subjects. There is enough research out there to have a meaningful conversation about yoga and religion. As a Catholic I appreciated your last podcast. Can you please take yoga seriously also. This is offensive! Baba black sheep!
