    Dan Pitkow, Flipper Remote

    Great to run into Dan Pitkow, the inventor of the Flipper Remote at CES. Flipper Remote is an easy-to-use large button universal remote built for elderly, kids, and partially-sighted users. Dan designed Flipper after our founder to address his father’s Alzheimer’s Disease.  His father was a University of Pennsylvania graduate, and a practicing lawyer for 35 years.  When he was in his late 60’s, he developed Alzheimer’s Disease.  By his early 70’s, he could barely turn on his own television. He had played golf for nearly all of his life, over 60 years. As he lost the ability to play, he turned to the Golf Channel to watch and listen to the familiar sights and sounds of the game he loved. But with progressive Alzheimer’s, he could not turn on the TV, let alone navigate over 2000 channels to find to one thing he wanted – The Golf Channel. Flipper was then and is now, the only specifically designed TV remote control for Alzheimer’s that gets people to their favorite content. We made Flipper to give that part of his world back to him, and we are proud to see it bring increased independence to other people with low vision, blindness, dementia, and other cognitive or physical challenges. Great interview and great to catch up with Dan.

    Kendrick Perkins, NBA Analyst for Speediance

    Going outside sports and beyond this week, Rick is joined by actress and InMelanin production company owner, Hazel Grace. We are passionate about creating content that is sexually liberating, fun, and meaningful. Hazel is trying to make a difference. She also enjoys hiking and kayaking in her spare time, so this actually does relate to sports. Great to have Hazel on this week.

    Dan Hampton, Football Great, Multiple Hall of Fames

    Rick is joined by football legend, Dan Hampton this week, who just got inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Hampton, a Jacksonville High School product, earned All-America honors in 1978 when he logged 98 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss, and was named the Southwest Conference defensive player of the year. The No. 4 pick of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, Hampton went on to earn four Pro Bowl selections and was a member of the NFL 1980’s All-Decade team. Hampton, part of the dominating Bears defense that won the Super Bowl for the 1985 season, was a 1991 inductee into the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor and a 1992 inductee into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002. Hampton was also selected as the No. 2 player on the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s all-time list of the top 10 Razorbacks in the NFL in 2020, behind only Lance Alworth.
