    Okta Does Identity and Onboarding at Home and in the Clinical Setting

    It's widely understood that passwords for access to digital resources are both insecure and annoying for the users. Sandeep Kumbhat, Field Chief Technology Officer at Okta, points out that digital cards, widely used in health care systems, also have their difficulties: they must be securely distributed, and a constant stream of outside visitors has to be accommodated. Modern identity systems must support a wide range of devices and accommodate telehealth, which means the patient should be onboarded without having to come into the clinical office. The identity system should also support different experience for different types of patients, such older or younger people with differing expectations.     Great Stories from Being Doctor to the President of the United States

    Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be the doctor to the president?  Did you know that a doctor has to be within 2 minutes of the President of the US at all times?  While we can't all have a doctor following us around, what can we learn from the care the President gets?  I had these questions and many more come to mind when I discovered a new book called Transforming Presidential Healthcare: Ensuring Comprehensive Care for the Commander in Chief Amid 21st Century Threats, a Ballast Books title, by author Jeffrey Kuhlman, MD, MPH.     eClinicalWorks Cloud and healow Providing Value to HealthNet

    Having attended multiple eClinicalWorks user conferences, one of their big efforts was to move all of their users to the eClinicalWorks cloud.  eClinicalWorks had made a big investment in cloud and they wanted all of their users to benefit from the reliability, scalability, and benefits of being on the cloud. With this in mind, I sat down with V Cantrell, MD, CMO at HealthNet and Abigayle Gomez, EMR Director at HealthNet, at the eClinicalWorks annual conference to learn more about their recent move to the eCW cloud.  They shared with me what went into the decision to move to the cloud and details of the results.     EMR Optimization is a Continuous Process

    North Country HealthCare is a highly rated clinical provider running three critical access hospitals in northern New Hampshire. In this video, their CIO Darrell Bodnar describes their on-going efforts to optimize and integrate a new EMR. They have a long-term relationship with tech consulting firm CereCore, represented in this video by Bob Gronberg, their AVP MEDITECH Professional Services. When it comes to EHR go-lives and optimization, it's hard to reproduce quickly all the features of the previous EMR during an EMR go-live and new features keep coming. Feature lists are too long, so the governance committee has to prioritize what to implement and optimize next. Gronberg warns that many organizations implement "base components" with the intention of coming back later to add more—but actually never do so. Thus, both he and Bodnar say that optimization is an on-going process.
