Thanks Bob, As one who grew up in Brooklyn, NYC, and chose a profession with design as fueled by values and meaning, I wholeheartedly agree that significance is earned by attention to others and authenticity in our desire to help others. Long ago, friend Alex Pattakos wrote the book "The OPA Way" inferring attention to Others, Purpose and Attitude is all we can control in life and work. Most find ourselves in jobs with increased repetition with a real fear that AI will replace all repetitive work. So our best chance for success, whether as a leader or as a professional...the criteria for significance resides in our degree of mindfullness to others internally, externally and even beyond our comfort zones so we stay open to diversity and values vital to keeping us all significant. I believe the pressure public companies have accepted as risk aversion, and short termism, as well as competing silos, creates closed internally focused cultures.I also know thinking such as you share in your podcasts can greatly improve our personal, career and organizational significance when we care to look beyond thecorporate radar to discover values, needs and opportunities we all can share pride in.
