Hey, Man - The Advice Podcast for Men

I love these conversations. It feels like the project here (even though they don’t come out and say it) is to find a way for men to have an emotionally open relationship to each other and be able to discuss their fears and pain, as well as pleasures and achievements. These kinds of friendships are something women have a lot, but men often don’t. This podcast feels like something the world really needs: a positive model for being an emotional man.

This podcast can sometimes be really great and illuminating. But other times it feels like Sam is dominating and self centered in how he engages with Avi and guests. His background and stories take up so much airtime that I end up tuning out or turning off the podcast all together and wondering why I keep coming back. Seems like it’s Sams way of avoiding really vulnerably tbh. Maybe you should do an episode on man-plaining and it’s relationship to hiding vulnerabilities.

Ok, a technical note first: use compression in the audio. On one episode, Aymann was talking quietly and then Avi was get excited and nearly blow my eardrums out. Please, use compression to even out the highs and lows. The show is pretty good. I’ve skipped multiple episodes because it is not something that interests me or I just don’t want to finish.

It’s great to hear humble and thoughtful perspectives on common life challenges. In an age when truth seems less relevant in daily intercourse, it’s comforting to know that there are still people tackling universal issues from a compassionate, intellectual perspective.
