Hey Other Parents is a weekly podcast about parenting and raising kids.

Each podcast includes nostalgia from the 80’s & 90’s, authentic honest judgment-free advice from real parents, information from the experts, without you feeling overwhelmed with information.

As co-hosts of the podcast, Michael, Sara, and Mike bring diverse cultural backgrounds, family dynamic, experiences, and parenting styles. Parenting issues are discussed with sincerity and humor for both moms and dads. At the end of each episode topic they administer Parenting Unplugged where the hosts give a prescription of entertainment, self-care or date night ideas to help you through those rougher parenting moments. We discuss everything from new parents, babies, infants, toddlers, tweens, and teens.

For listeners who prefer their parenting support on the go we have episodes posted early Monday morning to listen to on your commute. Listeners can write and call in seeking help with their parenting issues; because it’s the three of us and all of you.

How Do You Do, Fellow Kids? (The Slang Term Quiz)
This week we are discussing the secret language of slang. So let’s take this 10 word quiz together on how well you understand modern slang terms. See if you score better than Sara D and Mike Levine! We also discuss when and where slang is appropriate and when and where it’s not. Of course we talk about what it was like when we were younger, now with our own kids and what the supposed experts say. Raising kids truly is a four way game of tug of war, because it’s the three of us and all of you!

S01E029: Hey Mom, The Meatloaf! (Mother's Day)

Hey Mom, The Meatloaf! (Mother's Day)
This week we are discussing how to have a good Mother's Day. Whether it's your first time being a mom or celebrating yet again, we try to think about what has worked for us and what hasn't in the past. We discuss ways it has gone right, when it goes wrong, going out to eat, maternity leave ending and picking the right gift, finding balance with grandma and in-laws, making time and trying to do the most important thing according to Levine... whisper "sentimental" as you push the gift across the table.

Of course we talk about what it was like when we were younger, now with our own kids and what the supposed experts say. Raising kids truly is a four way game of tug of war, because it’s the three of us and all of you!

Lastly, a big Happy Mother's Day to Sara D, Our Wives and Moms, and of course to all of our listeners and friends!

We finish each other's Sandwiches! (Disney World Part Two - Rides + Food)
On this episode we are giving you some insight on the food and rides of the four Disney World Parks. We will be discussing our favorite attractions and some of our favorite quick order or sit down eats that worked best for our families. We are hoping to help out Sara D and others like her who haven’t gone as a family yet. Mike Levine has been a number of times and I went over the summer so I think we are going to learn a lot from each other on this second part of our Disney World Run of episodes.

S01E026: Expectations of Expecting (Family Planning & Hardships)

S01E026: Expectations of Expecting (Family Planning & Hardships)

    A Note To Our Listeners
This is going to be a different kind of episode for us at Hey Other Parents. On this episode we will be talking about some of our experiences with family planning. Some of these topics that we are discussing today can be triggering for some of our audience. Some of these topics may be triggering for us as well.

We are going to try our best to speak from our experiences in an effort to normalize the conversation around things such as:

    difficulty in getting pregnant
    high risk pregnancies
    adoption
    miscarriage and other hardships
pressure of having kids or having more kids
    rainbow babies
tough choices when mother and baby are at risk
    breast feeding pressures
    Epidural complications
    VSD (heart complications)
How to support friends and family through distress

While there are a number of positive areas of today’s show, we want to be upfront with you at the top of the show because like us, each of us has our own experiences and works through difficulty and hard times in our own ways. In this episode more than ever, it’s the three of us and all of you.

Expectations of Expecting (Family Planning &
    Hardships)
This week on Hey Other Parents we are talking all about how many kids you planned for in your family. We discuss the pressures that go along with being a couple, family planning, original ideas of having kids in the backseat of the little Toy Car in board game life and so much more. Did you plan for a certain number of kids, how did you know when you were done? We discuss complications, moments of hardship, moments of happiness and how to support one another because these important conversations are easier when you have some friends to share it with. Of course we talk about when we were younger, mishaps with our own kids and what the supposed experts say. Because it’s the three of us and all of you!
