Premier: Wednesday June 29th, 2022. On November 2nd, 2016, California mom Sherri Papini went out for a jog and vanished. Like a real-life "Gone Girl," Sherri Papini had completely fabricated her abduction. Journalist Abby Schreiber explores one of the most bizarre true crime sagas in recent memory, diving into the graphic lies Sherri told to the colorful characters who pop up during the investigation, all in an effort to discover whether any clues from Sherri's past foreshadowed all of the lies and deceit in her future. KP is not a duped husband. He’s not in on it but he was not searching for Sherri, did not pass the polygraph, lied about her injuries and attacked critics while spending the GFM on a new truck, etc. Also, he didn’t file for divorce until after a year of the final FBI interview - not until the media got the news out about the hoax. Watch how the FBI agents treat him during that final interview - they also know he’s not duped. He’s not the villain but he’s far from deserving sympathy. Their poor kids do. Oh, and we know exactly what Sherri was listening to on her fateful “jog”. Speculating about it was a waste - a little digging would have paid off.

Love the subject, but honestly spending all of almost an entire episode talking about white women syndrome being the problem feels like not great journalism. can’t Sherrie just be a lousy person instead of blaming race

Definitely not a deep dive. Just doing mindless tangents isn't drilling down. Didn't end up even finishing it.
