Revisiting the 2023 Trade Deadline
John and Nate look back on perhaps the biggest trade deadline ever to evaluate all these transactions a year on. How do the KD and Kyrie deals look, and would we have still done them as both teams? Who won the Westbrook/Conley/Russell swap? How have the trading trends evolved since this year? And which acquisitions actually fortified playoff teams?
Is There Too Much Offense? And How to Fix It
2024 All-Stars, Would We Have Done the Siakam Trade?
John and Nate start by discussing the pros and cons of the Siakam trade. Would we ultimately have done the deal knowing his likely contract expectations?
Then, we scrape the bottom of the Joe Johnson Memorial Barrel to fill out our East All-Star teams, before we wrack our brains on how to limit ourselves to 12 in the West.
Why Are Bad Teams So Bad? And the Minnows of the Trade Market
John and Nate discuss:
The Memphis Grizzlies’ future now that injuries have officially wrecked their season.
Theories on why this year’s bad teams are worse than any other year’s bad teams.
What the Knicks might be looking for with Quentin Grimes available and the Magic for Wendell Carter or Markelle Fultz. Also, what team could most use Dejounte Murray?
What other available players could potentially help a playoff team?
The Big Fish of the 2024 Trade Deadline
G-League Showcase and Trade Scuttlebutt; The Futures of the Spurs and Hornets
John reports back from the G-League showcase. Who stood out among roster players and the G-League Ignite?
Then we rule 2 teams out of the playoffs (guess who!) and discuss what their struggles this season mean for their futures.
Finally, we start to assess the trade market. Which teams are willing to move important players? And would the Jazz really trade Lauri Markkanen?
Great show but now have to pay outrageous amount to hear it!!
Hollinger is always insightful but I’ll read him in the Athletic rather than pay so much now for the podcast!
John Hollinger Honest Review
My god…. He over laughs at every one of Nate’s jokes and makes things painfully awkward. He also hardly gives concrete answers and usually says things without thinking it seems? Anytime Nate disagrees and has a counterpoint, John almost immediately gives up his initial take and sides with Nate. It’s like a tenured professor doing a podcast with an undergraduate. Unbearable honestly.
Pathetic money grab
Paywall’d their podcast and had the audacity to charge $16 a month! Reasoned it by comparing themselves to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. The monetization and profiteering of podcasts is disgusting. Please please please do not support this business model or else it will encourage more beloved and BETTER podcasts to follow suit. There are tons of great basketball pods out there that are free, go support them and not this trash. God bless and good night.
