Mary Versus the Movies
Sure, the 1980s were a great decade for film. But have you seen all of them? No, neither has Mary. In fact, some pretty big films passed her by, what with being in kindergarten at the time: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Moonstruck, My Neighbor Totoro... So it's time to fix that. Mary & Dennis strike an impressive and always entertaining balance of fun joking around and truly engaging film insight with Mary’s knowledge of old classic Hollywood and Dennis’ childhood of cable movie staples of the 70s & 80s informing each episode, and plenty of overall Gen-X snark and humor throughout. BONUS: Best podcast theme song in the biz!

As someone born in 1979, Mary’s POV mirrors my own in a lot of ways and I find her conversations with Dennis delightful. These two come at these films in a way that’s both funny and thoughtful, and both are clearly knowledgeable about pop culture, and particularly film. Listening to them like having a conversation with your best friend about a movie you just saw for the first time.
