EP 19. Open Water is Scary Enough | Richard Parker and Oba Chandler

95% of our ocean is unexplored. If that doesn’t make you sh*t your pants a little… we don’t know what will! There are so many “lost at sea” tales out there. But, what is it actually like to be lost at sea? How desperate would you actually get?
Well, today we’ve have a special guest, Hillary Burtnett, Kevin’s long time friend from his high school years. As a member of the US Coast Guard, she’s got the inside scoop on atrocities at sea. Also…cheating husbands with their pants down on a boat? Get it together people! I’m looking at YOU, Florida Man.
Kevin starts us off by taking us back in time to 1884, when a small crew set sail on the Mignonette, a small yacht that left out of the same port the Titanic would later leave from (bad juju, amiright?). Little did they know, this trip would turn them into cannibals! But these cannibals might actually be crowned “Cannibals with the Most Integrity,” because they admitted their crimes as soon as they were rescued. Slay!!!!... I suppose.
Brandon then takes us to for a deep dive into darker waters. Thanks a lot, Brandon! Oba Chandler, an average looking Joe who came from a family of dairy farmers, used his boat for pure evil. Are we surprised that a white straight man with a boat is an awful human being? No! But we were a bit surprised to find out that he was caught... you'll see why!
Moral of the story? Don’t get on a boat with a stranger! And maybe keep your pants on while you’re out there too. The ocean is way too convenient of a spot to dump a body. Go to the mountains instead! You can meet Kevin there.

EP 18: F*ck Satan, Eat a Banana | Christa Pike and Moises Meraz-Espinoza | Homocide True Crime Podcast

Satanic Panic - a phrase you may have heard a few times in the past. From people like Richard Ramirez to the Son of Sam, satanic murders are nothing rare... unfortunately. Today's episode is about two lesser-known teen killers who were inspired by Satan and had one thing in common... the urge to participate in a human sacrifice. Ew. Also... Not today, Satan!
Starting us off, Brandon dives into the story of Christa Pike, a troubled teen with a trauma-filled past and some mental health issues. This story has its ups and downs and will leave you asking - why did you have to grab the meat cleaver?! Then Kevin finishes the episode with the shocking tale of Moises Meraz-Espinoza, an 18-year-old who took revenge on his mother, who happened not to like his choice in music. Well, that and his obsession with satanic rituals. Like... can we all agree some people shouldn't have access to the internet?

EP 17: Welcome to Colorado | John Gilbert Graham and Alex Ewing | Homocide True Crime Podcast

EP 17: Welcome to Colorado | John Gilbert Graham and Alex Ewing | Homocide True Crime Podcast

Welcome to Colorado! From the vastness of the Rocky Mountains to the 300 days of annual sunshine, and the diverse cities to some of the most fu*ked-up murderers, this state has something for everyone. With stories like JonBenét Ramsy, Columbine High School, Tedd Bundy, and the Aurora Theater shooting, Kevin and Brandon found two stories that are just as awful.
With perspective from our co-host Kevin, whose formative years were spent in various cities throughout the state, this week's episode is about two awful humans that took the lives of many, right in the heart of the West. Get ready for this insane episode, and forewarning, it contains the retelling of some traumatic sexual assaults and gory events.
Kevin starts us off by diving into the story of a greedy, narcissistic man with severe mommy issues. John "Jack" Gilbert Graham, a hapless criminal and one of Colorado's worst mass murderers, is a dude who didn't get the memo that the song "It's Raining Men" was about delicious, sexy men raining down on you, fulfilling your ultimate gay naked fantasies. Instead, he thinks the song means something quite sinister. Stupid boy.
Then Brandon dives into the story of a 12-day murderous rampage that would take over 30 years to convict a murderer who had no motive. The story of the Colorado Hammer Killer, Alex Ewing, is a fu*ked-up tale of a small man with weirdo tendencies and a lot of hatred. The moral of this story, friends... Lock. Your. Doors!

EP 16: Forgetaboutit - New York City Murders | Joel Rifkin and Paul Bateson | Homocide True Crime Podcast

EP 16: Forgetaboutit - New York City Murders | Joel Rifkin and Paul Bateson | Homocide True Crime Podcast

New York, New York, what a helluva town! From the buildings that seem to touch the skies to the majestic Statue of Liberty, New York is known for so much. One of our favorites - the murders! This week we take a deep dive into the 2nd part of our New York Murders with some chilling stories based right in the heart of the Big Apple.
    CONTENT WARNING: dismemberment, torture, rape
Brandon starts off the episode with a twisted tale of a killer who was accidentally caught by the police. That's right, accidentally caught! Who knew that a missing license plate on a crusty old truck would be the start of a 20-minute high-speed chase around Long Island? What the police weren't expecting when they apprehended the driver was the decomposing body in the bed of the truck. Sure, the police were gooped and gaged... like literally, we would have gaged over the smell emitting from the back end too.
From here, we learn about the slaying of at least 17 sex workers by weirdo, Joel Rifkin. The moral of this story here kids... Don't be a bully. And if you are being bullied... maybe don't be a murderer!
Kevin then tells the tale of a gay, narcissistic, alcoholic sociopath who felt like his one-night stand should have been a lifelong love affair. Like sir, you just met... When the well-known reporter in the gay community didn't reciprocate the odd "soul connection" with this dirtbag, all hell broke lose. Described as a gay murderer with a taste for more than a dingalong... or em' dingaling... this story will have you shook for days!
Filled with BDSM, gay life in the 70's, a potential gay serial killer, and the general lack of police protection, the story of Paul Bateson will leave you speechless. Oh, and did we mention there is a weird tie-in with the 1973 hit movie, The Exorcist? Talk about your head spinning. Hopefully, this episode won't have you projectile vomiting!

EP 15: The Serialist of Serial Killers | David Parker Ray and Ahmad Suradji | Homocide True Crime Podcast

EP 15: The Serialist of Serial Killers | David Parker Ray and Ahmad Suradji | Homocide True Crime Podcast

You actually only have to murder three people to be considered a serial killer. But today's killers? They're overachievers in the worst way possible. We're talking double-digit murders...😨
Kevin kicks us off by taking us to New Mexico... you know, The Land of Enchantment... or so they say. We've got a naked woman running through rural New Mexico, rushing into the open door of a trailer to save herself from "them." When we tell you this story is straight out of a nightmare... it will actually send a shiver down your spine.
David Parker Ray might be the ugliest dude you've ever seen, but he also has a side kick with quite the name... (wait for it)... Cindy Hendy. Like, come on! I guess being the biggest losers New Mexico has ever seen pushed them to their breaking point because these killers created "Satan's Den."
CONTENT WARNING: sexual mutilation, torture, rape
Then, Brandon is telling us a tale of saliva + sorcery. And all we can say is... YUCK. Ahmad Suradji was a self-proclaimed Dukun (AKA Shaman) in Indonesia. For some reason, he thought he should take his dreams literally. What did his dreams entail? Oh, you know, just normal stuff... like, drinking the saliva of precisely 70 women. SCUSE ME? 🤮
Apparently, he thought to himself, "I couldn't possibly ask women to spit in a cup for my personal consumption... so, you know, I'll just murder them!" When a 24-year-old woman named Sri Kemala Dewi was discovered partially buried in a field, the true depth of Ahmad's crimes were revealed. Let's just say, this one ends in a firing squad.

EP 14: California Murders | Marion Parker and Ashley Hall (Atherley)

EP 14: California Murders | Marion Parker and Ashley Hall (Atherley)

California girls ARE undeniable, fine, fresh, fierce, and they’ve got in on lock! But it seems like California men are a little bit (ahem... lottle bit) f$cked up.
If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ve probably seen or heard Mardy in our recordings. She was the sweetest girl who loved to warm up our legs as we recorded. We had to put our true crime gabs on hold for a bit to give her all the attention she deserved for her last few weeks. So, this week’s episode is dedicated to our dear pup Mardy. Give your pets an extra squeeze today for us!
Anyway, Mardy may not have been a California girl (she was a New Yorker through and through) but today’s victims were... well, kinda. Brandon is kicking us off with a story that involves multiple ransom notes. No, ransom is not just for pirates. And yes, this story is brutal so viewer discretion is advised!
Marion Parker was kidnapped by Mr. Cooper after the school secretary allowed her to go home with a stranger. That’s unthinkable by today’s standards… because of stories like Marion’s. After sending multiple letters demanding the father pay up without involving law enforcement, Marion’s father was left with his daughter’s body... in pieces.
Next, Kevin tells a story that hits close to home. Ashley Hall (Atherley) was a mother of two, great friend to many, including Kevin’s sister-in-law Britaney, and she dreamt of teaching history. Unfortunately, domestic abuse ultimately stripped her of her spirit.
Ashley’s story shows the typical progression of domestic abuse. Starting by cutting her off from her family and friends and escalating to tragic heights. If you or someone you know is suffering under the hands of an abuser, Ashley’s family has actually created a resource to help victims escape violence.
