The Meaning of Your Misery

Exodus 6:28 – 7:7 Your pain has purposes far beyond what you can fathom. If you allow it, your pain can teach you wisdom. Your pain can act a the catalyst to draw you closer to God. Your pain can serve as an incubator, shielding you from greater dangers of which you are not aware. That’s how pain can serve your purpose. But your pain also serves God’s purposes in ways you cannot know. Therefore, you should endure your hardships as a good soldier. Knowing that your suffering always serves God’s greater ends. Sanctify your sufferings to the Lord. so He can use them to accomplish His will in the world. And do not be afraid. The same God who allowed your pain can also alleviate it according to His will.

I Am the Lord

Exodus 6:1-9Before the days of Moses, God had revealed Himself to the Patriarchs as God Almighty (El Shaddai) . To Moses He reveals Himself as Lord (Yahweh). This progression in God’s self-revelation should color the way we perceive Him. He is still the Almighty God (El Shaddai). While He is the God who cares for us (Yahweh). He revealing Himself as Lord, God is saying to Moses and to us that: 1) He never changes2) He cares about us3) He desires a relationship with us4) He desires to bless us5) He is faithful to His promises6) He will deliver us Let this encourage each of us to wait on the Lord. He is our timeless. faithful companion. And when we understand His timeless, unchangeable nature, and His relational disposition, we can more patiently wait on Him with full assurance that His promises for us will surely come to pass!

Do Not Double Down

Exodus 5:10-14 Pharaoh has heard the word from the Lord. But instead of taking heed, he has decided to double down. He has decided to dig in his heels and confirm his statement of rebellion. What are some of the most common reasons a person might commit more fully to the wrong direction after God has made His desire clear? 1) The person does not know God 2) The person does not differentiate between men of God and God Himself 3) The person believes she can prevail against the will of God Pharaoh serves as the perfect example of what the believer must never do when God makes His will known to us. When God’s will does not align with our desire, it is better to: 1) Continue the conversation2) Ask God for the ability to accept and obey3) Wait on the Lord to transform us Never double down in the wrong direction.
