How I learned what matters in life: A conversation with Justin Dziak

Safe and Sound Podcast with Sean Sparkman

Sean joins martial artist, lecturer, and community activist Justin Dziak to discuss how his critically ill child gave him a entirely new perspective on life.

Born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect , the left side of Eli's heart was extremely underdeveloped and was unable to pump blood efficiently. Instead, the right side of his heart had take over the task of pumping . To make that happen, baby Eli endured multiple surgeries.

Justin recounts the story of Eli and his struggle to live against all odds, a story that is both heart-wrenching and inspirational.

Sadly, after multiple surgeries and drug protocols, Eli passed away. But he left behind a legacy of resilience, strength, and courage that continues to change lives today.

After his son passed, Justin created the Lionheart Foundation to help parents cope with the emotional, financial, spiritual, and physical demands that come with having children with life-threatening heart issues.

Sean Sparkman urges listeners to discover more about Eli's Lionheart Foundation and its work helping parents get through the most challenging time of their lives.
