How Music Does That

My only regret is that I’m just now finding this podcast. As someone who went to school for music but does not do it professionally, this podcast has been tickling a long dormant part of my brain.

I’m a big fan and follower of Exotica music, especially Esquivel. This episode finds and connects the dots that lead to Esquivel. I learned new facts and truly enjoyed listening. It could have been 5x longer.

I stumbled upon “How Music Does That” yesterday - and WOW!!! This is the epitome of podcasts! Entertaining, informative and so much more! Well presented, well researched, great insights! Thank you, Dale McGowan for sharing your knowledge! Can’t wait to listen to all of them.

Thanks Dale. I love a broad range of music. Movie Scores can be fantastic and enriching . But I was so glad to hear you bring this topic up. I believe there is far too much of it in many of todays feature films and series . Dialog has been losing for quite some time now. This particular show of yours put me in mind of a parallel in fiction . Some fiction writers seem to depend heavily on dialog and by proportion much less dependence on scene set or atmosphere. Some fiction is almost ready for stage with a minimalist backdrop and props. In contrast , many great writers can really set a scene. In fiction , I believe I lean a bit towards MORE scene setting , more environment, more description. Yet in film I lean the other way. Glad you are back at it. I learn so much from you every show.
