Economics run this country. But few talk about economics. Politicians make big deals about small groups of people or the border, while behind the scenes, they’re making it harder and harder to get by. These experts pull back the curtain to show the the wizard amassing wealth for the already wealthy while raising prices and dropping real wages on the rest of us.

Just finished reading Democracy in Chains by Nancy Maclean of Duke University. The effort to “rein in” the federal government has been the fever dream of right wing activists for decades. The underlying philosophy is that poor people should work harder; basically it’s everyone for him or herself. In this paradigm, if the masses are able to vote, they will choose policies that benefit them which takes money away from the wealthy.
