As we enter the final stretch of our journey through 2 Peter 1:3-11, David & Phil discuss the difference between falling--i.e., getting sidetracked by sin and/or stumbling in your walk with the Lord--versus falling away, where you simply depart from the things of God altogether. A good deal of time in spent in this episode highlighting the importance of getting back up when you sin or make moral blunders in your Christian life, with an emphasis on the fact that God is interested in the "long game"--as Psalm 103:14 says, "He remembers that we are dust", and He is inconceivably patient in His dealings with us. We've been dissecting the seven spiritual qualities outlined in 2 Peter 1:5-7, and as we conclude our journey through these critical virtues, there is a powerful principle that all of us would do well not to ignore in verse 8: "For if these things [i.e., these spiritual qualities] be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." In this episode, David & Phil explore this theme of fruitfulness and productivity in light of what God's Word says about applying these seven spiritual qualities to our lives. How to Keep From Falling (Part 9) | What Exactly is Godliness?

When you hear the word "godliness", what immediately comes to your mind? For many people, the word evokes images of pious-looking saints in ethereal settings, or the idea of being "so heavenly minded that you're no earthly good". Unfortunately, these types of misconceptions can make godliness seem out of reach for the average believer, as if it were a quality or trait that is only reserved for the most holy among us. The good news is, the actual scriptural definition of godliness is a lot more practical than we may have realized. In this latest installment of our series called "How to Keep From Falling", David & Phil dig into the Word to discover the biblical definition of godliness, and they offer key insights to help clarify the true meaning of this essential character trait. So brew up a cup of your favorite coffee, grab your Bible and join us as we explore God's Word together! 🙏 Thanks for watching Bible, Bros & Brew! We’re glad you’re here. As we continue our journey through the seven character-building qualities listed in 2 Peter 1:5-8, David & Phil take a pit stop to talk about the power and importance of perseverance. The King James Version translates this word as "patience" in 2 Peter 1:6, and it conveys the idea of hopeful and cheerful endurance, or patient continuance. Probably more than any other episode, David & Phil share personal insights and stories of battle scars and lessons learned as a result of not operating in this essential virtue of steady perseverance. So brew up your favorite cup of java, have your Bible at hand, and join us as we explore the treasures in God's Word that will help us build the vital concepts of endurance and perseverance into our daily lives!     Be sure to download the Study Guide for this episode!
