    How to Prevent, Support, and Cope with Teen Suicide

    If you are a parent, a sports coach, teacher, or mentor of a teen...this episode is a must for you. Elliot Kallen has a transparent and heart felt conversation with me about teen suicide and gives so much insight on how to observe and talk with your teens. Elliot lost his son to suicide, and today he saves so many teens through "A Brighter Day" . There is so much information in this episode and I encourage all parents to listen, take notes, and visit his non-profit organization to learn more about their 24/7 text support and on-on-one therapy that his organization pays for. This episode will also help you feel encouraged by knowing we are in a great time of awareness more than ever. However, the statistics in teens that experience thoughts of suicide is 50%. John admits it was a long, hard journey out of depression, and through his personal life experience he now offers others a fundamental way of managing it. He is not a mental health professional and does not give mental health advice. His television experience includes directing a 14-week series entitled Potentials, and directed 80 segments for Bobby's World, which has been rated the #1 show on Fox 11 TV, garnering John an Emmy nomination. Moreover, Patricia Cardona stresses the importance of making these practices as a parent, a daily habit. She is a self-taught poet, a radio broadcaster, a speaker, an actress, and a telecommunications engineer. She collaborates with RANA (Red de Ayuda a Niños Abusados, or Aid Network for Abused Children), and she is a Steward of Children by Darkness to Light. She is an activist as well. She is part of BraveMovement, a survivor-centered global movement fighting to end childhood sexual violence. She has already made two trips to Brussels at the TownHall Europe and the European Parliament to speak with members of Parliament. These trips were to stress the need of having the COM (2022) 209: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse passed and to request to strengthen the law with support to victims. Next trip to Brussels is on 18th September. She broke her silence publicly in April 2019 in a poetry event. The guests told her she was brave. Since then she understands the value of telling her story and creating a safe space to talk about trauma and overcoming it. Her missions in life are to break the taboo of child sexual abuse and to bring survivors out of the shadows for them to dazzle the world with their light and strength. Patricia gives child sexual abuse prevention workshops and talks about transforming pain into purpose, overcoming fear, forgiveness and breaking the silence.

    Lily Sanders dives deep with author and suicide prevention advocate, Anne Marie Romer and her sister Kathleen Crippen on adult suicide and how to heal and understand it. Although blindsided from their sibling's suicide, it is grace that gave them peace so they can heal. Altogether, they are the epitome of resilience, and love. Listen to the story of how two of their adult brothers committed suicide and how they differed. Blindsided by the loss of their second brother, tragedy kept showing up anyway. And so, Kathleen earnestly requests out loud, "Just Give me The Road". With that, her words became the title of Anne Marie Romer's powerful book which is a love letter to her sister.
