HTL 019: Disconnect to Connect! How to Break Up with Social Media, with Johan Versteegh

HOW TO LIFE - Adulting for the 21st Century

#019 - The age of social media is brilliant, advantageous, and incredibly fun. There are so many wonderful benefits because of it.

But there are also a few negatives and one of them is addiction.

Addiction traditionally means a physical need for something, meaning there are physical side effects if you don’t get your “fix”.

And yes, this can happen with social media.

If you are beginning to realize that you find yourself needing to check in on your social media accounts, you fall asleep with your phone in your hand, you feel lonely or lost if you are away too long, it is affecting your productivity, or your friends or family are giving you hints that you aren’t really present when you are with them...you might have a problem.

Johan Versteegh is the founder of Social Media Breakup and he has a 6-step formula to help you recognize the signs, realize what void you might be trying to fill, and reconnect with yourself and the real world.
