Hurricane Helene caused torrential floods and mudslides in Western North Carolina—devastating the entire region in late September. 

On Saturday, September 27, one North Carolina resident—Ken Fisher—rescued his neighbor and lifelong friend who had been caught up in a landslide and then trapped in a storm drain.
