Writing on GamesCast
Hamish and Nico discuss goings on in the games industry, wax philosophical about the games they're playing, and rarely notice things going off the rails. Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/writingongamescast/support
Greatness

Who knew Writing On Games did a podcast with a friend (he should probably pimp it on his channel more, cough cough)? I for one did not, and I feel like I've been missing out on the hottest games podcast since Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh. If you want laffs, if you need hot takes, if no one else can help - give a listen and subscribe to Writing On Games.
So far, so disappointing

They often discuss games they don’t finish and yet defend their opinions as if they have any weight to them. Going through the podcast you will hear utterly ridiculous opinions, for example one of the hosts defended Death Stranding despite not even playing half way through and lampooned Sekiro when they didn’t get to the first boss. He was arguing against the other host who beat both of them yet we are to believe their opinions were equal. It’s strange to me that Hamish channel is so thoroughly written but when he’s speaking casually with his friend Nico, both their opinions tend to be shallow. They give scathing critiques of Salt and Sanctuary and No man’s sky but also have the balls to give Cyberpunk free-passes and argue that bugs actually make the game more enjoyable. They couldn’t even get Arthur Morgan’s name right during my a discussion of best character of the year. It’s not all bad though, often when they discuss older games they are passionate about they can offer unique and entertaining perspective but even then they can often argue is circles. The podcasts end up running multiple hours but not from depth, just from needless arguing. Still then arguments can be pretty interesting at times and they both remain very friendly which keeps the podcast from feeling stressful. They are at their best when they reference in jokes or are both completely in sync as it can lead to moments of laughter or catharsis. Overall I’m disappointed in this cast and it looks retroactively makes me dislike the YouTube channel, at least to an extent. I haven’t caught up to this year so it’s subject to change but I figured if they can critique games they don’t finish I could critique a podcast I most likely never will.
Thanks guys
