    #350: Coaching Hire Report Cards

    #350: Coaching Hire Report Cards

On the true debut of our offseason pod schedule, the fellas give all 60 hires a grade from A through F (apologies to Chicago State, Mount St. Mary's, and Florida A&M, whose jobs remain unfilled).
THE TWIST: We can only give out 12 A's and 15 B's, and each guy must give at least eight D's and five F's. Grade inflation, be gone!
Who LOVED the Calipari hire, and who simply gave it a C? Which select few coaches earned A's across the board from us? And, gulp, who earned the dreaded scarlet letter F?
    The Rundown:

    #349: 2024 Season Finale

    #349: 2024 Season Finale

The season is over, and UConn won the national title easily! Is it 2023 or 2024? 2024, you say? Well, that means the Huskies went back-to-back!
We look back on the incredible, buzzsaw-esque run of inevitability, particularly the meticulous dismantling of Purdue in the title game. Dan Hurley can coach some ball, folks.
We also give Zach Edey and the Boilermakers some love, hat tip to NC State and Alabama, and have a detailed discussion on the WILD week that was in the coaching carousel.
Thank you to everyone who tuned in this year - it's been a ton of fun interacting with folks about our beloved college hoops.
    The Rundown
    (0:10) - Intro
(6:32) - Root's Roundup (heavy coaching carousel talk, plus a little NIT chatter)
    (35:24) - Final Four Roundup

    #346: March Madness Marathon 2024

It's here!!! Our favorite episode of the year. No frills, no Root's Roundup, nothing but bracket breakdown goodness.
The Madness has arrived, and with it another annual edition of our March Madness Marathon pod! After an initial bracket reaction section, we go through every single first round game in detail, giving key stats and matchup angles for each one. We also peered into our crystal balls for Sweet 16, Final Four and Natty Champion picks!
Region Time Stamps (We went in order down the line in bracket order for each: 1 vs. 16, then 8 vs. 9, then 5 vs. 12, etc.)

Simas, good player?!

Great pod boys! Mainly for Jim/Ky here, since Matt’s been a fan… but have you guys come around on Simas being a good player? After having some to recover from being hit by a literal car mid-season, he found some consistency and closed the year on a tear. Think he’ll be vital piece for the Bearcats next year.

Long-time listener, who has nothing but positive things to say about this fantastic trio. I can’t think of another college basketball podcast that perfectly intertwines Power conference discussion with mid and low major analysis. My favorite hour to hour and a half each week. Two questions: 1) Would you consider bringing the best bets podcast back during the regular season behind a paid platform a la Patreon? 2) Despite Jim’s awful take that Dallas > Houston, I wonder what you three think about the impact of location in player recruitment? In the modern age, especially with NIL, feels like the city/location of the university is a non factors for most players.

Feel better.

Class act boys. Thanks.
