Bonus - Making Relationship Work with A Course in Miracles (Sunday Gathering Sermon)

We’ve all been in relationships that start out truly harmonious and mutually supportive. You and the other person are committed to the same goals and that feeling of magic connection is there. Next thing you know, it all slowly starts to die or shatters completely. How are we routinely in this place where relationships that begin with so much potential end so poorly? While there are an infinite number of ways to approach this topic from a Course perspective, in our Sunday Gathering sermon Emily Perry answers this question by sharing the one thing that will kill it every time.

    What is Your Life Purpose?

    What is Your Life Purpose?

Haven’t we all wondered if we were put on earth for a reason, to accomplish some unknown mission? Perhaps Walt Whitman was right when he said, “That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse”? This notion, however, raises so many questions: Do we even have a purpose or is life merely random? If we do have one, how do we find out what it is? How do we prepare for it? And once in it, how do we deal with practical issues like money? In this episode, Robert and Emily share the Course’s teaching on life purpose, which it calls our special function. They share the Course’s answers to practical questions on this topic, along with some of their own experience being called to fulfill a function that was different than either one had planned, yet in the end was far more rewarding.

    Levels of the Mind

    Levels of the Mind

What lies beyond the conscious mind? Are there higher levels? Are there lower ones? A Course in Miracles says yes to both. It contains a fascinating, extensive picture of the mind in which the levels constantly interact with each other. Right now, they are in conflict, but the Course holds out the promise of the mind becoming an organic whole, in which all of the levels work together in harmony. In this episode, Robert and Emily describe the different levels, how they relate to each other, and most importantly, how we can deal with them in order to bring about a harmonious mind.

A Course in Miracles and Nonduality: Are They the Same?

A Course in Miracles and Nonduality: Are They the Same?

A Course in Miracles is frequently described as a "nondual" path. It's true that both the Course and nonduality teach that everything is ultimately one and separation is an illusion. However, there are significant differences as well, and those differences amount to contrasting worldviews. In this episode, Robert and Emily present a general overview the distinctions between nondual teachings and A Course in Miracles. Topics covered include fundamental differences related to "self vs. no self", the nature of God, the idea of whether A Course in Miracles uses dualistic language to lead us to a nondual truth, what the Course specifically says about personhood, relationship to others, free will, and more. If you've assumed A Course in Miracles is a nondual path - or if you want to know more about how it differs from nonduality - this is an episode you won't want to miss.

    What is the Ego?

    What is the Ego?

Students of A Course in Miracles are forever vexed by the question, What is the ego? Is it a real entity or just a belief? Should we love it or condemn it? Does it keep us safe or endanger us? Should we take it seriously or disregard it? How can we tell when it’s speaking to us? And how can we let go of it? In this episode, Robert and Emily draw upon their years on the path to speak to the whole range of questions about the ego, from the most abstract to the most practical.

What Does and Doesn't Matter According to A Course In Miracles

What Does and Doesn't Matter According to A Course In Miracles

Every minute of every day we are faced with the question of what matters and what doesn't. What if we are getting it all wrong? We've been told to put the big rocks in first and not to sweat the small stuff, but what are the big rocks? And what is the small stuff? A Course in Miracles has surprising yet compelling views on this topic. In its teaching, most everything we attend to, worry about, and sweat over is firmly in the category of what doesn't matter. This doesn't mean that nothing matters and that we should just drift. There are things that truly matter. It's just that they have been largely off our radar, gathering dust while we attend to more "important" things. Join Robert and Emily as they explore a question that is vital to all of our lives: What really matters and what doesn't matter?

Lorit21 ,

Love this podcast!

I’ve been studying the Course for many years and I love, love, love these podcasts! The offerings are so well thought out and the concepts are presented very simply, which I so appreciate. Grateful for these, along with everything else that COA does to share the teachings of ACIM. Thanks Robert and Emily! 🙏

ACIM -jesus version - disappointed

I was excited to find this podcast until it was very quickly revealed that this is a Jesus version of a course in miracles. Of course in miracles is open to all higher powers so I found this podcast to be offensive. I’m looking for a podcast that studies the course of miracles as it is presented originally not with a Jesus spin.

The best

The best podcast I have ever heard. I can’t believe it doesn’t have a bigger audience. If the world were to wake up to these teachings, it would be a much nicer dream. Robert and Emily have such good chemistry, extensive knowledge, and insight, and they’re able to deliver the teachings of the course clearly and beautifully. They are the best and I hope the podcast continues to grow. I would also like to see them get on other podcasts to spread their message because it is much needed.
