The Superficial Spirit is a podcast where pop culture and spirituality get freaky. Join Peter Breeze every week as he interviews his famous friends and explores life, love, and current events through a millennial lens. About the show: The Superficial Spirit is hosted by Peter Breeze, a former club kid and underground pop star who found success in queer clubs across Canada and America. He believes that his time as a fame-obsessed, hard-partying club kid was a conduit for his spirituality and is passionate to connect with people who've also had unconventional or scandalous experiences exploring their own spirituality. Peter shamelessly explores the spiritual power of celebrities like Britney Spears, Courtney Love, Paris Hilton, and The Real Housewives.Guests include Drag Queens, Reality TV stars, Scientists, witches, psychics, tarot readers, naturopathic doctors, and regular people who've been affected by modern Spirituality.Earlier episodes explore how pop culture affects our spiritual experiences and seeks to uncover unconventional ways people experience the divine. We've explored different areas of spirituality including tarot, crystals, psychics, manifesting, plant medicine and modern new-age trends. In the podcast, we ask questions like is modern spirituality a cult? Is Ayahuasca really that profound? Are psychics and tarot even real? What about fame, money, sex, and social media? How do they affect our spirituality? Can the superficial really be profound? Ultimately, we believe in one thing: spirituality is real but the tools we use to define it may not be magical at all. superficialspirit.substack.com

Excellent

This podcast speaks so much to many of the conversations I’m having internally around spirituality. I’ve had many similar experiences that the host and guests describe, and it’s validating to know I’m not alone. Sometimes we come to new age to deconstruct what we picked up from society or religion, then at some point we have to deconstruct what we picked up in new age and find true spirituality again. Thank you for sharing all you do on this show!

Brilliant explorations

Just learned if this podcast via conspirituality podcast and Matthew Remski, listened to latest episode with interview with Remski. Absolutely brilliant analysis and conversation about so many fascinating and troubling elements of “wellness” and “spirituality” culture, and ramifications for the culture at large. So many great nuggets within, like the best 1 minute crushing of Jordan Pererson i’ve ever heard 🤣, deconstruction of the Louise Hay ur-cult phenomenon, poignant personal stories, and deeply useful distinctions about authentic or reality based spirituality. Definitely plan to listen to other episodes of The Superficial Spirit.
