Jewish perspectives on Israel from inside/outside

This is a smart podcast that I look forward to each week. One issue, that the authors themselves have addressed, is how it is impossible for Israeli Yonit Levy to have a detached, purely intellectual conversation about some of these topics. The pain of this moment is understandably personal for her. In contrast, Mr Freedland, although Jewish, seems disconnected emotionally from many of the issues discussed. He is polished and intelligent, but comes across as being “above it all”. Hoping that Israel and the Jewish diaspora will keep the door open and continue important conversations.

Five stars if not for Jonathan

Excellent podcast with vital interviews in this time of twisted, upside-down versions of the truth about Israel. Love it. But I often can’t listen or have to fast forward through Jonathan, who is a consistently predictable mouthpiece for the overwhelming anti-Israeli lens we in the west are trying desperately to escape, a point of view which would be fine here if he weren’t in addition so pompously longwinded, saying what he’s going to say, saying it again, and sloooowly, and once more and again lest we didn’t get it the first time . yonit is sharp and to the point and far more respectful of the already highly informed audience that we are. Give her more air time please, and less to the condescending Englishman and his self-righteous, obvious guardian- lefty lens…
