"I'm Speaking" is a take on (now) Vice-President Kamala Harris at the US VP debate with (then) VP Pence as she had to say "Excuse me, I'm Speaking" when he kept interrupting her and cutting her off. This term became famous for a lot of women and I thought it was fitting since this is a podcast and I'm literally 'speaking' my mind on women in business as well as being an introvert and a highly sensitive person in life and in business in an 'extroverted' and 'non-sensitive' world.

A lot of my episodes are 'Love Letters' to Introverts and Highly Sensitives.

    Ep 39 Born an Entrepreneur

    Ep 39 Born an Entrepreneur

    Hello...thanks for listening!

    From as young as I can remember I've always 'marched to the beat of my own drum'.... Come to find out (as I've gotten older) that my ancestors from the both sides of my family have and are entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders.

    I remember when I was doing my 'self-discovery' back in 2020 (yes, during the pandemic)...and I was having a meltdown/breakdown. I was being a martyr to myself again, and something said to look for a podcast on either being an introvert or an hsp (highly sensitive person). I had never listened to podcasts before this day funny enough - it was in August of 2020. And so I listened to my instincts and I stumbled upon Julie Bjelland's podcast titled 'The HSP Podcast' and this particular episode spoke of the absolute worst thing an HSP can do is to be hard on ourselves. From that day on, I knew I had to learn more about myself to, as my fave Maya Angelou quote says..."when you know better, you do better". I knew that I had to 'do better' and that my well-being, happiness and overall mental health depended on this.

    I ended up taking a Myers-Briggs test shortly thereafter and I found out that I was an INFP.... Back to listening to podcasts...I ended up finding a lot of podcasts and I heard Jessica Butts speak about INFP's on a couple of my favorite podcasts. When she got to the four letters of I-N-F-P she mentioned that this personality type is 'unemployable' because we're so "free" which is why. At first I took offense to it then I realized, she's right! I was learning more about myself and everything was making more sense.

    I = Introvert

    N = Intuitive

    F = Feeling

    P = Perceiving

    Ep 38 Do You Let Your Networth Define Your Self-Worth?

    Ep 38 Do You Let Your Networth Define Your Self-Worth?

    Hello...thanks for listening!

    I grew up poor so I'm pretty sure this has a lot to do with me defining my self-worth as my networth.

    I was always a leader and I had a lot of friends as a child growing up but I vividly remember when I was about 8 years old when I was being treated blatantly, not on my character or on who I was but because of what I *didn't have.

    Recently a "demon" had resurfaced and it was that I wasn't worthy because of my money situation. I had to think about where this came from and it started back to when I was 8 years old...when a group of friends had stopped being my friend because of what I (didn't) have. They flocked to a friend of mine that was rich and she had the latest toys and brand name clothing and lived in a big house.

    It would have been one thing if my friends had stopped being my friend because I wasn't a nice person but it had nothing to do with that...it was only because this other friend had nicer toys and brand name clothes.

    Interestingly enough this same friend who had become more popular because of (what she had), she would always copy me. I hated her copying me...this included taking all of my friends (that I was friends with first and had made a group of friends with from the get-go) and she took them and they became her friends and no longer mine. Ooof! Writing this I can feel the pain and injustice all over again...

    Let's stop treating ourselves like an item with a price tag and instead like the priceless treasures that we are because we are just that...priceless treasures.

    Ep 37 2023 is for ME! :)

    Ep 37 2023 is for ME! :)

    Hello...thanks for listening!

    Since late 2022, I started thinking..."2023 is for ME".  I had a weight on my shoulders (felt like the weight of the world) on my shoulders and yet again I was putting myself last when I had an epiphany. I can (as one of my friends says say 'Yes to Desire') and I thought I'm going to do this 'thing' that I've been wanting to do for the last 10 years (almost 15) years of my life!

    Cheers to 2023 or as Tamron said on her talk show recently...2020-Me!

    Ep 36 Coping During the Holidays as an Introvert, Empath and an HSP

    Ep 36 Coping During the Holidays as an Introvert, Empath and an HSP

    Hello...thanks for listening!

    Didn't mean for this one to be this long but it is what it is! You can listen to bits at a time if you'd like...it's a podcast after all. ;-)

    Whether you're with family and friends or whether you're alone, it is a 'trying' time for introverts, empaths and/or HSP's during the holidays.

    If you're alone and are homesick I suggest:

    1. Making phone calls to loved ones.

    2. Doing a Zoom call with loved ones.

    3. Joining a Meetup.com event or organizing one to your liking and inviting other members to join you.

    4. Hey Vina app! (An app for women to make friends by planning events and gatherings in the same or neighboring city!).

    If you're visiting family and friends during the holidays I suggest:

    1. Renting a hotel or an Airbnb so that you have your own space and can recharge whenever you want/need.

    2. Politely declining an invitation to stay in the same house/space/area as everyone else with the exception of you having your own space/room to yourself.

    In the end  YOU know your capacity and as long as you follow your instincts you'll be good. And it's your right to say "No" and to respectfully and politely decline an invitation if you're not feeling it either. It doesn't mean that you're ungrateful because you politely and respectfully decline. ;-)

    If this episode was of value to you, please subscribe and follow and if you would be so kind as to rate (you can rate on Apple and on Spotify!). Thanks in advance!

    Cheers to speaking up and for making your voice heard!

    Sincerely,

    Elizabeth

    Ep 35 Are You Diminishing Your Light?

    Ep 35 Are You Diminishing Your Light?

    Hello...thanks for listening!

    Throughout life, I've noticed that whenever I feel misunderstood, or ignored, or like I'm getting reprimanded for being myself, I start to 'pull back' and I start to diminish my light.

    Being an introvert and a highly sensitive person and an empath, I'm automatically a "sponge" to the energies of others around me and I have to remember to do the following so that I don't start going down a negative spiral:

    1. To catch it

    2. Remember that "what they think of me is none of my business" ...the great quote from LL Cool J.

    3. If they don't appreciate me and what I bring to the table, that's 'their' problem and 'their' issue, not mine.

    4. To keep shining my light!

    5. Hold my head up high

    6. Remember how wonderful I am and...

    7. To remember what I *do* bring to the table...which is a lot and they're lucky to have me.

    If this episode was of value to you, please subscribe and follow and if you would be so kind as to rate (you can rate on Apple Podcasts and also Spotify!).

    Cheers to speaking up and for making your voice heard!
