"I'm Speaking" is a take on (now) Vice-President Kamala Harris at the US VP debate with (then) VP Pence as she had to say "Excuse me, I'm Speaking" when he kept interrupting her and cutting her off. This term became famous for a lot of women and I thought it was fitting since this is a podcast and I'm literally 'speaking' my mind on women in business as well as being an introvert and a highly sensitive person in life and in business in an 'extroverted' and 'non-sensitive' world.

A lot of my episodes are 'Love Letters' to Introverts and Highly Sensitives.

Ep 35 Are You Diminishing Your Light?

Ep 35 Are You Diminishing Your Light?

    Hello...thanks for listening!

Throughout life, I've noticed that whenever I feel misunderstood, or ignored, or like I'm getting reprimanded for being myself, I start to 'pull back' and I start to diminish my light.

Being an introvert and a highly sensitive person and an empath, I'm automatically a "sponge" to the energies of others around me and I have to remember to do the following so that I don't start going down a negative spiral:

    1. To catch it

    2. Remember that "what they think of me is none of my business" ...the great quote from LL Cool J.

    3. If they don't appreciate me and what I bring to the table, that's 'their' problem and 'their' issue, not mine.

    4. To keep shining my light!

    5. Hold my head up high

    6. Remember how wonderful I am and...

    7. To remember what I *do* bring to the table...which is a lot and they're lucky to have me.

Ep 34 Self-care is a part of the Process

Ep 34 Self-care is a part of the Process

Hello...thanks for listening and for reading this!

First off...for those in the U.S., thanks for voting and for making your voices heard!

...Whenever I don't take self-care, it always bites me in the butt!

I always feel that I can "outsmart the system" or "outsmart life" or my body, to people please and skip my self-care and I don't know about you, but it never works for me.

I haven't been taking self-care recently and I've been neglecting myself and my body gave out and 'forced' me to. I got a migraine that wouldn't go away, and my lower back pain came back, and I did 'short stints' in resting which (if I'm being honest, WTF?), short stints of self-care are exactly that! I was giving myself the 'short end of the stick' and my body "fought" back and forced me to take sufficient rest (!)

And only with that 'sufficient rest' am I only now feeling better and 'back to normal'...thankfully.

As Iyanla Vanzant says...our "cups" are for us and the 'overflow' is for everyone else. Let that sink in for a moment. ;-)

And I have to keep reminding myself of this...self-care isn't a 'want' it's an absolute 'must'. Especially if you're an introvert and even more so if you're a highly sensitive and an empath. None of us can pour from an empty cup!

If this episode or the above words are of value to you, please subscribe/follow my podcast (on your platform of choice), and if would be so kind as to leave me a rating on Spotify or on Apple podcasts. Yes, you can now rate on Spotify...woohoo!

I podcast for the love of helping others and for sharing information with others and yes, it's also a part of my self-care and it helps for me to fill MY cup. :)

Thanks again for listening and reading this! Cheers to speaking up and for making your voice heard!

Ep 33 VOTE and Make Your Voice Heard! Tues., NOV 8, 2022

Ep 33 VOTE and Make Your Voice Heard! Tues., NOV 8, 2022

    Hello...thanks for listening!

Democracy and women's rights are on the ballot this midterm election! And this is a "no joke" election year!

Hopefully you were able to Vote early and if not, you still have the actual election day which is Tuesday, November 8, 2022!

Let's make our voices heard...loud and clear!

    Some helpful websites:

    1. www.VOTE.org (for anywhere in the US and depending on where you live it will branch off as far as what city and state you're in).

    2. If you're in Georgia --> www.mvp.sos.ga.gov (this will tell you where you're registered to vote at on election day depeding on your info -- I suggest checking this before heading out to Vote, if you're unsure).

Some suggestions if you're voting on election day, November 8, 2022:

    0. Have your ID/credentials with you

    1. Get to your voting location as early in the day as possible.

    2. Use the restroom beforehand.

    3. Bring snacks and beverages with you (in places like Georgia, it's now against the law to accept food or drinks while standing in a long line to vote).

    4. If you have kids with you and there are long lines,

    a. bring either a coloring book(s),

    b. blank sheets of paper and some crayons or pens or a pencil or

    c. some video games with you (if you have an electrical device) so that they aren't bored waiting for you to wait in a long line to vote.

    d. And in addition, bring enough snacks and drinks for yourself and for the children that are with you.

    5. Check on your elderly relatives, friends or neighbors to see if they need a ride to get to their voting location;

    a. assistance on what to do once they get to their voting location and/or if they can't stand for long periods of time,

    b. bring a lawn chair or fold-up chair with with you to have on hand in case you or they need to sit down if there are long lines to vote.

    6. As long as you're in line before your voting location closes (no matter how long the long is even if you're in line at 6:59PM and the line is 7 blocks long and your voting location closes at 7:00PM, you are able to vote!). Don't let anyone tell you or "bully" you into thinking otherwise or to leave the line!

Rideshare suggestions if you don't have mode of transportation or live far away from your voting location (or if you're a poll worker):

    1. Lyft (rideshare app) is giving a discount of 50% your ride if you use them to go to and from your voting location -- Use Code VOTE22.

    2. Uber is giving poll workers (up to $200) ride discounts if they don't have a mode of transportation to get to the polls they're working at from Monday, NOV 7 - Wednesday, NOV 9, 2022 -- Check this website to sign-up and for more info --> www.powerthepolls.org/Uber

If you've voted and have helped anyone/everyone around you that has needed it already and you can afford to donate --- please donate! Every bit helps!

Cheers to speaking up and for making your voice heard!

Ep 32 My Instincts are Just That (They're Mine)

Ep 32 My Instincts are Just That (They're Mine)

    Hello...thanks for listening!

This is similar to what I spoke about in my last podcast episode Ep 31 The Heart Knows Before the Mind Does. It's interesting how we are taught and "groomed" (especially women) to look 'outward' for advice and to ask, ask, ask. And to not ever look inward and to follow our instincts and what our intuition is telling us. I'm not speaking about anything that's harming someone else...I have too much empathy for that and I would never preach that.

This is for the sole reason of us following our intuition in life and that that is enough. We don't need to ask for permission or to ask for advice or to look outward. It's all within us and isn't it interesting that that's when we seek advice the most?

If someone asks you "why are you doing this or that?" or "how come?" you can steal this answer from me which is..."Because I'm following my instincts" and if they keep asking you can follow-up with "My instincts are just that, they're mine and they won't make sense to you"...."just like your instincts are just that, they're yours and they won't make sense to me". And you can rest assure that that is enough of a reason. :)

Ep 31 The Heart Knows Before the Mind Does

Ep 31 The Heart Knows Before the Mind Does

    Hello...thanks for listening!

I've been going through a lot which is why I haven't had a podcast episode in a bit. Whenever I don't have an episode within a couple of weeks this is usually why...it's always due to "life".

Don't get me wrong though...I LOVE podcasting, I love helping others and sharing information with others and when I don't, I genuinely feel sad and like a part of me is 'missing'. So I'm elated to get this podcast episode to you. :)

The heart knows before the mind does...this is true. Whenever I've let my 'mind' lead I'm always kicking myself afterwards. We are all human and nobody is perfect. This and the thoughts of "this is temporary, not forever" and "I've been through much, much worse" keep me afloat. This along with faith and asking for help. Which is still a struggle for me (to ask for help) but I'm getting better thankfully.

I hope you enjoy this episode. :)

Ep 30 Interview with Billie Gardner on Being an Introvert in Life and in Business

Ep 30 Interview with Billie Gardner on Being an Introvert in Life and in Business

    Hello...thanks for listening!

I heard Billie talk on another podcast and I resonated with a lot of what she said so I reached out to her, and the rest is history! :) Thanks, Billie!

Billie Gardner and I talk a lot about being an introvert and our characteristics that are more introverted! And that it's all "okay"!

    Billie Gardner's info:

    www.desiretodone.com

^^^ She has a great club for introverts that are Virtual Assistants, called Introvert VA Club!

    Why does this matter?

It makes a difference in how we recharge, in how much we need to recharge and for our general well-being. And if you're an HSP in addition (test below) -- you'll need to recharge even more. ;-)

Are you an HSP (a Highly Sensitive Person)?

This is Dr. Elaine Aron's direct website. She coined the term, "highly sensitive person" back in the 90's!

I am learning to self-care and I'm learning to be proud of me -- the sweet, shy, kind and introverted me. I am a leader and I will use my quiet power as I climb straight to the top."
