    Dans cet épisode, je vous présente Nelson Niyakire, commissaire d'exposition passionné par la promotion de la culture et de la créativité dans la région. Convaincu que les arts visuels ont le pouvoir de raconter des histoires captivantes et de connecter les gens à eux-mêmes et au monde qui les entoure, Nelson s'efforce de mettre en valeur le travail des artistes locaux et de les aider à explorer leur potentiel créatif en tant que commissaire d'exposition. Son rêve est d'établir des structures solides pour préserver le patrimoine artistique de la région. L'expérience de Nelson en tant que commissaire d'exposition va bien au-delà de l'accrochage de tableaux au mur. En effet, il est un véritable chef d'orchestre qui coordonne chaque aspect d'une exposition, de la sélection des artistes et de leur travail à l'écriture des textes d'accompagnement, en passant par la coordination logistique et la communication avec le public. Nelson a pour vision de créer des laboratoires culturels qui explorent la culture locale, la partagent et la promeuvent. Il est également préoccupé par la préservation de l'art contemporain et souhaite établir un fonds pour collecter et préserver les œuvres d'art de la région.     Libérer son esprit créatif au Rwanda: une conversation avec le make-up artiste Ivan Mugemanyi

    Dans cet épisode, je vous présente Ivan Mugemanyi, un make-up artiste et photographe de mode. Avant de s'installer au Rwanda en 2020, il a offert ses services de maquillage de manière saisonnière pour les hautes saisons de mariage en été et à Noël. Son savoir-faire et son talent ont fait de lui de lui une figure marquante dans l'univers créatif de Kigali. Au départ, il a emprunté une voie académique conventionnelle en obtenant un Master en traduction. Cependant, à mesure qu'il s'immergeait davantage dans sa profession, il a réalisé que ce n'était pas ce qui correspondait à ses aspirations. Bien qu'il ait essayé différents métiers, tels que la banque et l'enseignement du néerlandais, Ivan rêvait de libérer son potentiel créatif et de fuir la monotonie du rythme "métro, boulot, dodo". Son cœur était irrésistiblement attiré par le fascinant monde de la beauté, qui l'avait captivé des années auparavant. Ivan Mugemanyi a commencé à explorer son talent pour le maquillage à l'âge de 17 ans en aidant ses cousines à se préparer pour les sorties nocturnes. Cet intérêt pour le maquillage a retenu l'attention de sa famille, ce qui l'a poussé à prendre des cours de formation pour devenir un professionnel. Sa carrière a connu une percée lorsqu'il a été embauché par MAC Cosmetics, ce qui lui a donné l'opportunité de renforcer sa réputation dans l'industrie. C'est lors d'un voyage au Rwanda en 2015, alors qu'il était en quête de nouvelles opportunités sur le marché du maquillage, qu'Ivan Mugemanyi a été intrigué par la scène créative du pays. Maryse est largement connue au Rwanda pour Pink Mango, sa société de trading et de production textile. Asantii, son dernier projet, est une entreprise révolutionnaire pour l'industrie de la mode en Afrique.   Le magasin Asantii a ouvert ses portes au Rwanda en décembre 2022 dans un bâtiment rénové situé sur la charmante rue pavée de Kimihurura. La marque Asantii se distingue par une collection qui reflète un esprit panafricain grâce à un mélange de styles, de matériaux et de cultures. En effet, 16 designers de 12 pays différents, tels que le Nigéria, la Côte d'Ivoire, le Sénégal, le Ghana, le Maroc, l'Ethiopie, le Rwanda, la Tanzanie, le Kenya, l'Angola et la République démocratique du Congo, travaillent avec Asantii pour offrir une variété de styles et des créations uniques et modernes. En outre, la marque s'engage à utiliser des matériaux respectueux de l'environnement et à soutenir les artisans locaux en utilisant 80% de tissus et d'accessoires africains, tels que les cotons de Madagascar, les Faso Danfani du Burkina Faso, les cotons et les jeans d'Egypte et les boutons en forme de vache d'Ethiopie et du Kenya. Certaines créations sont inspirées par des symboles Adinkra, des rois Ashanti du Ghana, l'Abacost de Mobutu en République démocratique du Congo et la robe de mariée Xhosa. Cette combinaison de styles et de cultures diverses crée une collection unique et diversifiée pour les clients d'Asantii. La marque est déterminée à faire connaître le talent et la créativité africains au monde entier en proposant des produits de haute qualité conçus par des designers talentueux de partout en Afrique.
