Hi, I’m Andrew Bracewell. I don’t have a degree, haven’t authored a book and to this point in my life, have not done anything that would warrant having a podcast, Except…I’m amazing at one thing. I have a knack for finding extraordinary people and getting them to talk. I think our world is full of amazing people who do amazing things…I don’t mean the famous kind; I mean the everyday kind. There are people all around us doing awesome shit because they want to. These people fascinate me. I want to talk to them, ask them questions and listen to their answers. Most importantly, I want to tell their stories so that we can all learn from and be inspired by, Everyday Amazing.

    Small town girls, big ideas - Jessica Germaine, Brittany Manulak and the Crystal Gala Foundation

    Jessica Germaine and Brittany Manulak come to visit Andrew and class up the living room. These two women (Along with many others) have played a huge part in the success of the Crystal Gala Foundation, which has raised over 3 million dollars for the fight against breast cancer. Brittany admits she’s a control freak, Jessica pretends that her baking is not a big deal, both can’t stop mentioning wine, and all three laugh a ton as they share stories about the Gala that make it so damn attractive; the family sacrifice, the bond around a kitchen table, and the tears that have been shed to name a few.     The challenge of recovery - Teresa Trask and Debora Jordan

    Teresa Trask of, Lifehaven Women’s Support Society and Debora Jordan, of Christine Lamb transitional residence stop by the living room to share their first hand experience and real life stories of the recovery journey for women who battle addiction, abuse and mental health. Teresa shares about her passions for her work, stories that inspire her, challenges she faces and readjusting expectations. Debora was once a client of Lifehaven, and shares from her unique perspective having been addicted and in need of help. Many success stories are shared along with topics including some flaws in the recovery system, the need for more transitional housing, and the role that poverty and mental health play. Give this one a listen!

    Reimagining Masculinity - Brendan Kwiatkowski

    Brendan Kwiatkowski is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Edinburgh in Scottland researching adolescents males' beliefs about emotions, school and masculinity and looking at the relationships between all three of those elements. Brendan is in the research phase of his Ph.D. and he is collecting his data in the greater Vancouver region of British Columbia. Andrew and Brendan discuss various aspects of his research including the impacts of messaging from parents and teachers, how we form our masculinity beliefs and the differences in how we raise boys and girls. Brendan shares his affection for Brooklynn nine-nine, and Andrew does his level best to ask great questions and get the most from the conversation.

    Curt Derksen is our guest on this episode and we love him. Curt is passionate about his family, he speaks about this passion and the challenges that come with being who he is. Andrew and Curt share a belief that they are both superheroes, they discuss this and their plans for when the zombies come. Curt talks openly about his father’s battle with dementia and the challenges associated with that. Curt speaks about his interest in the human body and how that guides his health journey, Andrew tells Curt that people think his body is amazing, Curt seems to agree. Both sip Bourbon during their time together and discuss the impacts of alcohol on conversation.

    Marites Kliem is a mom, she and her husband Tyson, made the cutest boys Instagram ever laid eyes on. Marites is also an inspiring real estate agent. In her earlier years, she was a child prodigy(in our opinion), taking on small acting roles and recording pop music that climbed the charts. As a first-generation Canadian, her parent’s sacrifice is a daily inspiration to her and she uses that as motivation to take advantage of every opportunity. Andrew and Marites discuss work-life balance, the challenges of a working mom, their shared confusion of camping, her Filipino roots, karaoke, her experience with racism and traumatic experiences that shape us.
