    Ep 66: Niels Vandeputte

Two bigs wins capped a season of accomplishments for Niels Vandeputte of Alpecin Deceuninck. After overcoming an off-season injury, he raced more times than any other rider in 2023/2024 all while balancing college studies with the Kersperiode, managing final exams with his World Championship preparation, and still having a enough gas in the tank to race in February. This is the story of a true cross racer.

Ep 64: World Championship Preview 2024

Ep 64: World Championship Preview 2024

All the work is done, and it's time to see where Curtis stands among the best in the world. In less than one week, he takes the startline at the World Championship for the 11th time in his career.  His approach has been a bit different, only racing a short three-race block in Europe (as opposed to his traditional heavy 10-12 race schedule during the legendary Kerstperiode). The night before he flies to Prague, we reflect on his preparation, his performance at World Cup Hoogerheide, and preview Sunday's World Championship race.

The Real Deal

Curtis provides great “inside the tape” perspectives on CX racing and an entire season as a cycling pro in U.S. and Europe. You really get a feel for what it’s like to be a bike racer as your full time gig, without a lot of fluff. Tony keeps the conversation moving and adds a little home cooking enthusiasm.

World’s Recap

It was great to hear Curtis take us through various aspects of the Fayetteville course and his race. Would love to hear more details about the start, the finish and other parts of the course. I love that Curtis just dives right in and starts spreading his knowledge and giving his insights.

Best episode yet IMO!

So enjoyed the interview with Mandy-such a smart, articulate young woman-and the chemistry seemed perfect throughout the conversation. Being from Boulder also I appreciated the discussion in comparing training opportunities between here and over there. And I missed the Mol race too-grrr! HATE the geoblocking! So I liked hearing more details about that race that we all missed from over here. Also good insight into the deep heritage of CX in the Dutch and Belgian race culture and even within families. Good all around!
