I loved listening to Alex during the NPR days. Listening to Sarah‘s fresh perspectives and Alex‘s tenured wisdom is a great combination. I’m now excited for the election so I can listen to their insights.

Alex Cohen is like a reporter from 100 years ago. No confrontation with her subjects, just wholesale agreement with whoever the most powerful person in the room is. Just completely unwilling to engage in real research or journalism.
Excellent.

Alex Cohen is a 5 star professional. She gets right to the point, asks insightful questions without pissing the interviewee off.
Floyd
12/06/2020
I have been a supporter of peaceful protest since my son went to war for our freedom but all peaceful of course. I also believe that what happened to Floyd was so wrong it was a personal issue with his murderer, yes I said murderer as that is what it was. But as a widow of a fallen officer and sister of a fallen deputy I don’t hate the monsters who kidded my family in fact I pray for them to see the error of their ways whether it happens or not is up to them I believe some bad apples just keep rotting but hey there is always hope. The man who killed my husband is black and the man who killed my brother is Hispanic I don’t hate the race in fact I don’t hate but I feel sorry for them as they have someone much higher to meet face to face one day. I now have two son’s who serve and protect they are know not only dealing with a silent killer covid but they are dealing with unruly protesters who throw feces urine rocks bottles spit throw bottle rockets and the list goes on. They take away some of their protection less lethal weapons which btw is only used when threatening matters occur and those who got hit with these who are getting sympathy are those who should have disbursed at curfew. Our law enforcement departments hear in California have made plenty of progress since years before and yet it is not good enough. I believe our district attorney is doing a great job leaving her color aside and doing the job she way put to do. Some people don’t like her because they believe hey your black you should be on our side. NO she is not of any color when she does her job and if she has to be a color she is the color of the law. Another thing I’d like to say is the majority of law enforcement are angry at what happened to Floyd as they know what is in store for them and that is some officers will die as a payback and that is not right. I’d also like to ask if black lives matter why are they not protesting the murders that happened every single day by blacks on black in their own neighborhoods? If an officer kills someone who is btw committing a crime then it’s an issue. They call officer racist but it works both ways. If defunding law enforcement is in the deal and crimes go up then that is on the major of each city that goes along with it as it cost a lot for those unsolved crimes to get done, helicopters to follow chases new recruits to come aboard and more trained that needs be done. Please keep interviewing officers and see what they go to on a day to day base and please enough with the same thing over and over lots of people I’ve talked to have said they have stopped watching the news because of the same thing is being played and they feel the media is instigating it to go on kinda stirring the pot to keep news alive. I’m hoping you chose to be the exception to the rule and try to help us mothers wives children of those who serve and give them a voice not just once but an ongoing voice to those who do the job most could not do. I mean it’s easy to be a criminal but it’s not easy serving the community that is out to get you. I would like to give you an example of some of the things our officers see and when you and I see something horrible we can’t unsee it well imagine going to a call and find brain matter of an innocent little baby who was grabbed by the feet and slammed into the wall because he would not stop crying and the mother and her boyfriend where just wanting to get high. Or walk into a house where there was a full massacre of the whole family including an infant with a bullet in the head while still in the car seat. Our men and women deserve so much more credit than they get and if they keep complying to all their needs then it will just be an open field for more crime while our officers have their hands tied. Please let’s not prize the criminals and cut the hands of those who go through so much to protect you and me. Make a difference Jezzel I love your show and I know you are a smart woman with a heart. Do a show on speak with an officer and the day to day things they have gone through and keep going through daily. From one who has given up so much to this world. Sylvia

I've long been a fan of Alex Cohen. She knows SoCal so well. I get my news mostly from social media and podcasts, so I'm glad she's on here! Most news podcasts do national or international, so I'm glad for a good listen about local and regional stuff.
Perfect commute pod
