Classical Podcasts
We are convinced that lovers of classical music include people who are always looking for(1) music that they have not heard before that might attract them, and (2) the best performance of music that they are familiar with and already enjoy. This website was created to help these music lovers achieve both goals. We are uniquely able to fulfill this mission because we bring together two exceptional resources that are not available on any other classical music website: (1) a classical music record collection that includes over 60,000 recordings of more than 35,000 different pieces of music from every corner of the globe, representing every historical period from biblical times to the present — one of the largest collections of classical music in the world; and (2) the expertise of some of the best professional music commentators, musicians, and composers involved in the classical music world. With these unique resources, we present three specialized podcasts and the opportunity to respond to them through our blog: (1) "Buried Treasure" will introduce music from all periods and places, providing an opportunity to explore rarely heard works; (2) panel discussions on the interpretation of classical music in which well-established record critics will review recordings of more familiar works, play excerpts of the performances under review, and explain their individual standards for judging performance; and (3) a podcast in which one of the leading composers in New York interviews notable performers and composers, discussing with them the latest developments in classical music.

You can learn in detail about all kinds of classical music genres and composers. helpful explanations and contexts for the music. But a request: please break these monster long podcasts into chunks of say an hour. 5 hours is 5x too long, and very hard to manage on a mobile device.

A wonderful way to spend some genuine quality time (and you’ll need a lot of it) on a guided tour through some great music with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide. Highly recommended!
Informative look at new and different Music

Love the podcast, it’s nice to have a way to hear long bits of leautiful pieces I wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. I was disappointed by the audio quality in some of the narration, though. There were long parts for corrupted audio, or where the host was moving the mic while recording. Very hard to listen to when the volume is up from hearing the music.
If Only Classical Radio Were This Good
31.05.2018
This podcast is not for the casual fan of the "Classical Top 10". You will not get the same old tiresome chestnuts here. You'll hear plenty of less familiar but very worthy music, presented in a knowledgeable and dignified manner (both attributes sorely missing on most classical radio in the US today). The episodes are long, but you get to lose yourself in complete pieces - not just a single movement of a symphony. The talk is never excessive, and never insulting. No stupid banter or talking down to the listener. The series on modern string quartets was over twelve hours, but it was fascinating and there was never a dull moment. This is the only podcast I still listen to regularly; long may it live!
