One of the very first words our children learn: NO. And then, mine. Before they even reach the age of two, we are disciplining these rebellious little beings and it doesn’t let up for a long time. That can feel overwhelming and discouraging BUT we have HOPE. Listen in as we talk about how every act of disobedience is not actually something that is inconvenient and making our life harder but an opportunity to go after the heart of our children.
Practical Tips:
- Challenge children to obey: right away, all the way and with a happy heart
- Children struggle to obey because:
- They don’t share our priorities
- They are used to us yelling when we’re really serious
- We’re inconsistent or not on the same page as the other parent
- We don’t have their attention
- Their sinners
- Every act of disobedience is an opportunity to go after your child’s heart
- Ask the questions:
- What happened?
- What did you do? (Use I language)
- What was the result?
- Why did you do it?
- Then remind them of their need for Jesus and offer prayer and discipline

Bible Truth:
Ephesians 3:20-21: Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think according to the power at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations. Forever and ever. Amen.
