How You Can Advocate for Small Businesses & The Heist

Shawn Phetteplace joins Podcast Therapy to talk about his work with Main Street Alliance (MSA) and how they lobby for small businesses. This national organization which was started in 2008 prioritizes the care economy, tax fairness, capital access, anti-monopoly and healthcare. Locally, the MSA Wisconsin chapter advocates for healthcare, paid leave, and repealing the personal property tax. We talk politics, generational wealth, red-lining, structural racism, discrimination toward BIPOC-owned businesses, lack of access to capital, market trends and Conan O’Brien! Thank goodness a break from all the serious talk! (And a quick shout out to the Attitudes podcast and the Asian Not Asian podcast!) Interview with a Podcaster & The Side Hustle Show

“Because Your 9-5 May Make You a Living, But Your 5-9 Makes You Alive!” Nick Loper, host of The Side Hustle Show joins Podcast Therapy to share his insights on starting his podcast, the side hustle gig and podcasting going forward. Like many entrepreneurs, he talks about how leaving his corporate job was the first step on creating his own side hustle. With Side Hustle Nation, he helps individuals find their side hustle idea. The Side Hustle Show podcast with close to 500 episodes, showcases all his guests and their creative ideas. We geek out on algorithms, “climbing the listener pyramid,” and deciding whether we should follow best practices. We also chat about some of my favorite episodes and if you're interested in what kind of podcasts Nick follows, you’ll have to listen to the whole show!
