    Interview with Lindsay Ell

We had the pleasure of interviewing Lindsay Ell over Zoom video! Platinum-selling singer, songwriter and musician Lindsay Ell releases her most personal and inspired music to date with her eagerly awaited EP, love myself, out now via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.   The first project that Lindsay Ell has co-produced, love myself marks an artistic evolution in her sound and an awakening in her songwriting. Recorded in Brooklyn with producer Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers), love myself is a collection of emotive alt-pop songs that cut deep with their vulnerability.   “This project feels so liberating and so free, like I'm finally connecting head and heart," shared Ell in an exclusive interview with People ahead of the release. Lauded for her songwriting, Ell explores themes of the human condition throughout the EP such as self-doubt, negative self-talk, resilience, and healing. “I’ve finally reached the point where I have been able to turn my pain into power – not letting it define who I am, but letting it fuel what I want to do and inspire the mark I want to make on the world,” she shares. Through the lens of Lindsay Ell’s personal experiences, love myself expresses universal emotions and creates a sense of connection. love myself is the newest chapter in Lindsay Ell’s decade-long career that boasts three #1 hit songs, a Platinum-certified single, and over 400 million streams. Ell is a CCMA Award winner with nominations from the CMA Awards, ACM Awards, CMT Awards, JUNO Awards, and over 20 CCMA Award nominations.  A generational talent, Ell has always felt at home on stage. Beginning her touring career at age 10, Lindsay Ell has brought her electric live performance style to audiences across the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK with both her headlining tours and alongside artists such as Keith Urban, OneRepublic, and Maren Morris. Over the past year, Lindsay Ell has proudly assumed the role of lead guitarist on her childhood hero Shania Twain’s “Come on Over” international tour and Las Vegas residency which continues into 2025.   2025 will also see Lindsay Ell return for her fourth consecutive season as the exuberantly warm-hearted host of Canada’s highest-rated reality program Canada’s Got Talent, which has earned her two consecutive Canadian Screen Award nominations.   In addition to her multi-faceted talent, Lindsay Ell’s philanthropy and advocacy have earned her prestigious recognition in both Canada and the US. Last month, she received the CCMA’s Music Humanitarian Award in recognition of her work with her Make You Movement charitable fund, and was a guest speaker and panelist at the Clinton Global Initiative’s 2024 Annual Meeting in New York City where she shared her story of recovery from an eating disorder. 2. Interview with Amythyst Kiah (Amythyst Kiah Returns!)

    14 NOV

Interview with Amythyst Kiah (Amythyst Kiah Returns!)

We had the pleasure of interviewing Amythyst Kiah over Zoom video! GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah shares her new album, Still + Bright via Rounder Records. Produced by Butch Walker (Taylor Swift, Green Day and Weezer) and recorded at his Nashville studio, the 12-track album is a vital new addition to Kiah’s body of work, one largely dedicated to exploring the struggle and joy of true self-discovery. While her 2021 Wary + Strange details her grief, anger, and abandonment, Still + Bright is her liberation from the events of her earlier life, examining the vast expanse of her inner world, passions, self-exploration and realization, with a darkly cinematic twist.  The project – which Rolling Stone hailed is “poised to be a major moment for the east Tennessee-raised singer-songwriter” – expands upon the wild definitions of Americana music. From gothic love songs with haunting vocals (“Silk and Petals feat. Butch Walker”) to a furiously stomping fantasy-inspired folk epic (“I Will Not Go Down” feat.Billy Strings"), or an ode to meditation laced with lush mandolin lines and lovely fiddle melodies (“S P A C E”), the album affirms her as an artist of both daring originality and uncompromising depth. The album is a collision of her love of indie rock, garage guitars and symphonic metal, flawlessly melded with the visceral lyricism and songwriting she’s renowned for in the roots community. The project – which features collaborations with S.G. Goodman, Billy Strings and Avi Kaplan (Pentatonix) – also marks a complete transformation in Kiah’s songwriting process: her first time opening up her approach and working with co-writers on an album. The album features co-writes with punk legend Tim Armstrong, Sadler Vaden (guitarist/vocalist for Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit) and Sean McConnell (Brittney Spencer, Bethany Cosentino). Kiah is currently on the road on her Still + Bright Tour, plus she recently was announced as direct support for select dates of Larkin Poe’s The Bloom Tour. About Amythyst Kiah: With an unforgettable voice that’s both unfettered and exquisitely controlled, the Tennessee-bred singer/songwriter is a “fantastic fingerpicker, dynamo singer and profound songwriter [who] defies all sorts of stereotypes” (Guitar Player). Her 2021 release of Wary + Strange earned glowing features and reviews from The New York Times, NPR Morning Edition, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone, plus performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS Saturday Morning. Kiah is also a member of Our Native Daughters—an all-women-of-color supergroup whose standout track “Black Myself” (written by Kiah) earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best American Roots Song. She recently joined Iron & Wine on their summer tour, and has shared stages with The Who, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, CAM and more.   We want to hear from you! Interview with BabyJake (Jake Returns!)

We had the pleasure of interviewing BabyJake over Zoom video! Florida-born Jake Herring, known professionally as BabyJake, may have appeared to be an overnight success, but his journey to the spotlight was anything but instantaneous. His hit single Cigarettes on Patios took off in 2019, garnering 200M+ streams and earning him a certified gold record and a major label deal. He would release two albums from the same vine, until the upheaval of the pandemic saw him splitting with his label and at a pivotal turning point. But giving up was never an option for Jake, and his resilience set him on a new path: an ascetic journey to rediscover himself, shedding his shag haircut in favor of a buzzcut, naked skin marked by the tattoos he collected along his journey. He found the answer on his upcoming album Beautiful Blue Collar Boy, a bouquet of songs rooted in the beauties and hardships of day to day life. Drawing influence from the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Tweedy, BabyJake stays true to his north star of confident storytelling and songwriting. On Beautiful Blue Collar Boy, Jake trades in the late night parties for the simplicity of authenticity, hard work, and a meaningful life to come home to. This chapter of BabyJake reveals a man stripped down to his American roots, with each song painting a small vignette of BabyJake’s blue collar dreams. Now planted in Nashville, TN, Jake returns to us as a Beautiful Blue Collar Boy. We want to hear from you! 4. Interview with Amble

    1 NOV

    Interview with Amble

We had the pleasure of interviewing Amble over Zoom video! Rising Irish folk trio Amble unveil their major label debut EP, The Commons, via Warner Records. Listen to it HERE Beloved for their descriptive storytelling, lyrics and powerful live performances, the band just announced their biggest headline tour to date for 2025, including shows at Dublin’s Trinity College and New York’s Bowery Ballroom, which sold out within minutes. The 30+ date run follows the band’s entirely sold-out 2024 headline tour across US, Canada, UK and Ireland, including their debut performances in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and many more. The Commons includes previously released tracks, “Little White Chapel” and “The Commons,” plus three new tracks, including the standout ballad “Thoughts Flood Back To You,” “One Man’s Love,” and“Luke The Navigator.” Throughout, the five-track EP explores themes of love, loss, and loneliness but always concludes with hope and wonder for the beautiful world around us. On writing the EP, the band explains, “Every one of our songs tells a story. We had no ambition to add bells or whistles or anything production-wise. We’re putting a microphone in a room, recording the music, and that's it. All three members are songwriters, each contributing in their own unique way. Robbie’s songs are based on personal experiences while Oisin – who also writes poetry and short stories– delivers somewhat more impressionistic work, and Ross admits he’s more of a melody guy.” Stay tuned for much more from Amble in 2025. ABOUT AMBLE Amble are Robbie Cunningham, Oisin McCaffrey, and Ross Mc Nerney, a three-piece ensemble of songwriters hailing from the Midlands and West of Ireland. Amble’s debut EP, 2023’s Amble (Live), introduced a new, musing, trad-tinged trio of songwriters to the Irish music scene, followed by 2024’shighly distinctive Of Land and Sea, found the group expanding their sound to an ever-more global audience. Their songs present indelible marks of deft rural-related storytelling and musicality that is equally traditional and current. Unusually for a contemporary group, all three members are songwriters. Every song tells a story. Robbie, Ross, and Oisin write songs that provide a quick getaway: one minute you’re at the center of life’s relentless storms, the next you’re sitting in the shelter and warmth of your local bar on a chilly winter‘s evening with friends, a drink, and the reliability of a great song. The unique perspective of three individual songwriters creates a peerless body of work - built on the now familiar, ruminative observations on the world and more fitting to the Amble journey - the stories unfolding each day within it. Interview with charlieonnafriday

We had the pleasure of interviewing charlieonnafriday over Zoom video! The 21-year-old singer-songwriter who bobs and weaves freely between alternative, pop, and country, got his start by cooking up genre-busting anthems in his Seattle basement, turning his high school dreams into an impressive reality in DIY terms. His certified platinum hits “After Hours” and “Enough” have certainly solidified him as one to watch. He’s also opened for heavy-hitters like Tate McRae, Macklemore, and Jesse Murph. After building anticipation with one banger after another, charlieonnafriday, who has amassed nearly 1 billion global streams with his string of irrepressible releases since 2022, unveils his anxiously-awaited debut album, WILD CHILD, out now via Island Records. The record showcases his immense growth as a songwriter, vocalist, performer, and formidable presence. This time around, he powers up irresistible pop hooks with his classic hip-hop bounce, and just the right amount of country swagger, making each record accessible to all music lovers, no matter their genre of choice. Earlier this month, he set the stage for WILD CHILD with the intoxicating single “Bottle Go Down” supplemented by its high seas yacht party music video (living his best life, of course). Across the album, he continues to amplify this energy and remains musically unpredictable at every turn—from the hypnotic “Warning Shot” to the hummable “When It Rains.” ABOUT CHARLIEONNAFRIDAY: Cooking up genre-busting anthems out of a cluttered and cramped Seattle basement, charlieonnafriday (a.k.a. Charlie Finch) unassumingly transformed a high school dream into an impressive reality in D.I.Y. fashion and on his own terms. As he scaled multiplatinum heights, gathered billions of streams, and performed to sold out crowds, he always clung tightly to what brought him to that point in the first place. He makes music with the indisputable integrity surrounded by “day one” friends—fondly known as his “onnafriday” clique. He initially lit up TikTok mid-Pandemic. Inking a deal with Island Records, he ignited the platinum-certified “After Hours” and platinum-certified “Enough.” In between, he collaborated with everyone from Lil Tjay to Bankrol Hayden. He also earned acclaim from Billboard, People, and many more. Renowned for unpredictable and undeniable shows, he performed to packed audiences on bills with the likes of Macklemore, Jessie Murph, and Tate McRae. However, everything just set the stage for more music to come in 2024. We want to hear from you! Interview with Capstan

We had the pleasure of interviewing Capstan over Zoom video! To make a mosaic, tiny pieces interlock as a larger picture. In similar fashion, distinct elements coalesce as one in Capstan. The Florida quintet—Anthony Demario [vocals], Joe Mabry [guitar], Harrison Borman [guitar], Andrew “Boz” Bozymowski [bass, vocals], and Scott Fisher [drums]—merge metallic precision with pit-splitting hardcore grooves and the kind of hooks you can’t shake. After amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and many more, the group paint a definitive body of work on their aptly titled third full-length offering, The Mosaic [Fearless Records].   Since 2015, Capstan have progressed with each subsequent move. Following Seasonal Depression [2015] and  In The Wake of  Our Discord [2018], they made waves with their full-length debut, Restless Heart, Keep Running, in 2019. Among many standouts, “Stars Before The Sun” racked up over 5.1 million Spotify streams followed by “We’ll Always Have Paris” with 2.5 million Spotify streams. 2021 saw them level up again with Separate. Right out of the gate, KERRANG! rated it “4-out-of-5 stars” and proclaimed, “This is Capstan at full strength and it’s a second outing to be proud of.” They toured with the likes of Trash Boat, Doll Skin, Silverstein, and many more.   This time around, the boys opted to self-produce, engineer, and record what would become The Mosaic. At the same time, they collectively absorbed the spirit of a more optimistic season. As with any mosaic worth pondering, this one might just leave you uplifted. We want to hear from you!
