(4:00) He tries to listen to audiobooks. He will often do zero “life into living” to show solidarity for those he’s trying to help. Each year, he tries to get in 365 hours of aerobics, minimum. Next year, Vinnie might switch up his exercise goals. (9:00) His recent cancer challenge has made him rethink his goals. Vinnie encourages you to start transmuting into your goals now instead of waiting for the new year. (17:00) Time is a construct of humans; any time is a good time to start, so start now. Having resistance to change is a clue to start it now, not to procrastinate. Getting Started Chris asks about testosterone levels. (20:00) Creatine is a good thing. (23:00) Studies are showing how it helps with cellular health. Chris talks about testosterone, sex drive, mood, eating whole foods, sleep, and getting proper nutrients. (24:00) The more you learn about your natural hormone levels, the better. Vinnie knows athletes who would use high doses of steroids, and he has seen a lot of unhealthy results over the years. Even Joe Bonnadonna, Vinnie’s mentor in his younger years, would tell Vinnie not to use them—and Joe used them! Rucking is another way Vinnie gets strength and cardio in. (42:00) They discuss the difference between having an actual rucksack versus using a backpack with weights. (43:00) What should you expect as you shift to a weightlifting focus? (53:00) The idea is to progress, but you also need to know when to rest. Rest is part of the progress. (56:00) Keep track with a notepad and pencil or an app, but track your progress so you can assess. Start with where you’re at, and just try a little further each time. (1:03:00) For example, Chris’ grandfather had knee surgery, and each day, he would try to go just a little bit further. Body weight exercises can help, too, if you can’t or are hesitant to join a gym.
