Is Freedom Possible‪?‬ The Crypto Ethic

    • Technology

In this video Tansy and Anja discuss how personal freedom looks in the 'land of the free' and whether it will always be the case that a fear of losing power by the ruling authorities will always drive the suppression of these freedoms?

As individuals when we think of freedoms perhaps we may think of those articulated by the Convention of Human Rights, or the enacted by the Constitution (and the Amendments), or about basic personal freedoms to have open access to a home, to ones' own money, to clean and healthy food. We may think about the right to personal choices (where these do not harm others') over our money, bodies, health, global location.
But as nations it feels that such freedoms are given little credence in favour of control and the pursuit of prescribed outcomes - whether this is profit, religious dogma, fear or the retention of power.

It seems that more of a discussion is needed around what freedoms are, and how best to protect them?
