Ep. 52 - Lou Gramm (formerly of FOREIGNER)

On this episode of The It's Only Rock And Roll Podcast, we feature a wide-ranging, cathartic interview with LOU GRAMM, the former lead singer and principal co-songwriter for 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees Foreigner. Topics covered include his early life growing up in Rochester, a parent-defying trek to a 1965 Rolling Stones concert, the lean years with his first band Black Sheep (including losing the supporting slot for the '75 Kiss tour), shooting pool with John Lennon, and an often-tumultuous relationship between himself and founding member of Foreigner, Mick Jones. He additionally gives an honest assessment of Foreigner's new singer, as well as life after surviving brain surgery.

    Ep. 50 – Interview With DENNY LAINE (1944 - 2023)

On this episode of The It's Only Rock And Roll Podcast, we revisit my 2007 interview with singer/guitarist DENNY LAINE, who tragically passed away this week at the age of 79. Our conversation covered his entire career including his early influences, forming his first band Denny & The Diplomats (with future Move/ELO drummer Bev Bevan), and co-founding two of the most celebrated musical acts of the rock era, The Moody Blues and Wings. Denny also set the record straight on several points – a record that has often been misrepresented by critics and fans alike.

Ep. 47 - Robby Krieger (The Doors)

On this episode of The It's Only Rock And Roll Podcast, guitarist and hit songwriter for one of rock's most mythical and influential bands The Doors, ROBBY KRIEGER talks about his early years as a Jewish kid living in an upper-middle class “waspy” neighborhood, and how a penchant for blues slide-guitar earned him a slot in the now iconic quartet. We also discuss the band's early gigs, the story behind him writing their first #1 hit “Light My Fire”, how they each received Vietnam draft notices, and more anecdotes from his autobiography “Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying, and Playing Guitar with the Doors”.

Loved the Russ Ballard edition

Great job, fantastic to hear Russ recount great stories from Roulettes to Unit4+2, Argent and onwards. A national treasure and lovely bloke.

Look no further, classic rock fans!

Don DiMuccio separates himself from the rest of the classic-rock podcasters out there by getting top-level guests and asking insightful questions that show he really knows his stuff. Highly recommended!

Cool Podcast

Don's intimate knowledge of R&R and his quick wit add greatly to the quality of these podcasts. The co-host/special guest format keeps things fresh and fast moving. I would recommend It's Only Rock and Roll to anyone who loves the music and wants to love it even more.
