First, please interrupt less when you feel you have a point to make, Christiana. It made listening a chaotic experience. Christiana says she doesn’t want to tie her purpose to work but then does not want to work in a place that doesn’t make her happy but remains in order to support her chosen purpose: family. It’s a privileged expectation that she have everything in all aspects of her life. Most of us have to accept trade offs. And likely she does as well. But her choice of rhetoric undercuts the potential validity of her own potential points. Perhaps consider the manner in which you engage and the rhetoric you use—there’s a lot to your perspective. But I think you’re getting in your own way, Christiana.

Y’all–I absolutely love this podcast for so many reasons, and you make me laugh out loud every single time. However, I need to critique your comments from the IIRTW grab bag episode… I was a bit disappointed that you didn’t go into much nuance with the suggestion that everyone has to shadow a service industry employee. The service industries are amongst the hardest jobs to work in, not to mention the disgustingly low wages many states still pay, lack of benefits such as insurance, and the pervasive sexual harassment that occurs both from coworkers and customers alike. Only to name a few issues. The world would be a lot better if everyone understood what these people go through. I know it’s comedy here, but please reconsider your perspective on this one.

Simon Sinek was so rude to Christiana. He constantly interrupted her, talked down to her, and mansplained to her. He tried to tell us that middle management is the hardest job in the world. Sure it can be a very difficult job, but the hardest job in the world? Hardly. He was speaking from a place of privilege and sounded so conceited during the podcast. He was unable to see a perspective other than his own. Trevor, I enjoy your podcast, but please don't just sit there and ignore the fact that Simon Sinek kept interrupting and condescending to Christiana.

This is the first and last hot take everyone needs on the Luigi Mangione case. Thank you Trevor for your fierce insight and courage - it may not be an episode of “facts” but it is the most TRUTH and INSIGHT I have heard since this whole circus started. I’ve been feeling very gaslit this time around, even by the media outlets I usually trust and respect. Please keep speaking truth to power while also being hilarious for always. We love you.
