Jerry Gogosian's Art Smack

First, let me say I don’t review podcasts so for me to take the time to do this really says something. I’ve been following the art world for a while. The first ABMB I attended was in 2007, I believe. In the “Miami Affair Digital Detox” episode at around 40:00 Jerry starts talking about the problems with the current art world and she couldn’t be more right. The point she made and continued thereafter is spot on. She couldn’t be more right. I’m glad someone finally said it. The current art in the art world is stale and many can’t relate to the struggles conveyed in the work. I hope insights like this will be the start of something fresh, new and better. Thank you Jerry

This is the only podcast that I listen to every episode of. I particularly love the episodes that include Magnus.

Could be better (less garish ego flourishes), could be worse (Jerry doesn’t appear to have completely sold out yet, but frankly it isn’t looking good). The main strength of this pod is that Jerry is an interesting outsider, and I hope she stays that way. If she gives in to the temptation of the art world high life, she’ll be just another annoying “ faux fabulosity” with only annoying things to say. Stay real, Jerry, and for God’s sake be sensible above all else.
