From Living Paycheck To Paycheck To Paying Off Debt & Financially Thriving With Veronique REWIND

How the Income-Driven Repayment Waiver Can Help Student Loan Borrowers Get Closer to Forgiveness w/ Lauryn Williams

This week on the Journey to Launch Podcast, I am sharing a conversation I had on IG Live with Lauryn Williams from Student Loan Planner. Lauryn provides crucial information for student loan borrowers about the Biden administration's Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) waiver for federal student loans, which can significantly impact loan forgiveness eligibility. The steps to take include: understand your loan type, consider consolidation, and take timely action before June 30, 2024 which is the deadline to maximize benefits.
    In this episode, Lauryn shares:
What is the IDR Waiver and how it can help student loan borrowers get closer to forgiveness Why borrowers with Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) loans or those with multiple loan types should consider consolidation to benefit from the IDR waiver. Where to go to see your loans and determine your next steps  How to stay informed about your loans and any future opportunities for forgiveness or adjustment if you miss the deadline + more. Best interviewer in ALL media

It’s been a few months since I listened to to a JTL episode, it never disappoints. It. doesn’t matter who Jamila is interviewing, be it an NFL player who redefines what wealth is for a professional athlete by investing in his future instead of showing out, or a mom who started a business with $5 to get her family out of almost-poverty. It does not matter what the topic is, she is the best interviewer in all media, hands down! Jamila knows how to let her guests speak, knows the exact questions to ask, and asks the best follow up questions. In a world where Everyone has a podcast and Everyone is interviewing people and talking over them and not asking the right questions… I find myself yelling out loud for a question that never seems to be asked. In contrast, Jamila gets the raw truth from her guests, the nitty gritty, and these answers help other people who are listening who may be at the same place. Regardless of where you are in life financially, this podcast has something for everyone in the finance spectrum, from broke to those building generational wealth. And it’s not just finance, there are life nuggets in every episode. Move over Oprah, Jamila, imo, is a much better interviewer. She is. I said it first ;).

What a blessing

I started listening to Jamila around November 2023 when I was trying to get started in listening to podcasts rather than listening to music during my shifts. I found the show looking for something in finance as I am an accountant and wanted something I felt would also teach me. I heard Jamila talking about her new book that was coming out early December 2023 and tbh I was thinking “is this another one of those…” hearing a lot of other podcasters on my main homepage talking up their recent books. But then I kept listening and learning about Jamila’s view of FI and I HAD to get it ! As a black female in finance, I’m so glad to have found Jamila to be relatable & inspiring. Especially her 6 year goal because I was just turning 25 setting a 5 year goal.
I did slow down on podcasts for a few weeks, still reading my book, but I’ve been listening to the more recent new episodes and was just feeling so inspired by hearing everyone’s stories & Jamila saying how far she’s come, & referencing old episodes - so last week I decided to go allll the way back to see where Jamila started to give myself more confidence IT IS POSSIBLE. I can see my mindset has changed a lot in the last 6 months, not only from listening to Jamila but also executive some of the things I’ve learned.
Thank you for bringing us on your Journey Jamila !!!
