DVC owners can be evicted from premises under new Florida timeshare law

New Florida legislation went into effect on July 1, 2024, that allows management to remove timeshare owners and guests for a wide range of inappropriate conduct including:

  • Illegally possesses or deals in controlled substances
  • Intoxicated, profane, lewd or brawling
  • Indulges in language or conduct which disturbs the peace and comfort of other guests
  • Conduct which injures the reputation, dignity or standing of the establishment
  • Fails to make payment of rent at the agreed-upon time
  • Fails to check out by the agreed-upon time

Disney has had issues with being able to remove Disney Vacation Club Members engaging in inappropriate behavior in the past, and this new legislation should allow them to appropriately deal with concerning behaviors.

More news on DVC centers for both coasts

The Gateway to Discovery preview center at Disney Springs has now opened its second floor. The expanded area allows guests to tour models of a deluxe studio and one bedroom villa for Disney's Riviera Resort. The center also offers Members and guests a place to relax with light refreshments, seating, and a balcony overlooking Disney Springs.

In addition, the Golden Vine House Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home Center is scheduled to open to the public in Disney’s California Adventure on July 26th. DVC Members will have access to a Members-only preview from 10:30 AM to 6 PM on July 24th and 25th. Members attending will receive a commemorative keepsake and a sweet treat. This area is not expected to be a lounge like the Star View Station Disney Vacation Club Lounge, but will be primarily a sales office.
