Love these arselings!
I had already watched all of the TLK seasons when I found this podcast. I love the discussions and the perspective of the shows that the girls provide. Love it and look forward to season 5.
Wonderfully funny and refreshing
Wife and I started watch the show just a couple of weeks ago, and we just finished season two before I discovered this podcast. I find it refreshing to listen to women and their discussion for a change, since the majority of showcasts are done by men. And they are very funny and insightful! My wife hates podcasts but likes this one, so score!
Good, not Great
First off, props to these Arselings for doing a podcast on TLK. I just started watching the show a month ago and they are the only podcast of TLK I can find that has stayed alive through all seasons.
There are a couple of things that prevent this from greatness. First, they absolutely butcher the pronunciation of character names. Here’s two that are just egregious. Father Beocca and Thyra. They pronounce it Be-Oh-kuh and Teer-ah. The mispronunciation is egregious because never in the show are their names pronounced like this! It’s Be-Ah-kuh, and Too-rah. It’s only been 4 seasons of hearing every character pronounce their names.
The podcast is mostly just a recap. They don’t do a great job of getting meta with plot lines and prognosticating what is coming next. They do a little bit of dabbling into character development/intent but stop short of true character exploration. The other things I find off putting is these ladies seem to struggle hiding their man hating. A little ironic considering they are reviewing a Viking show.
