Next Question with Katie Couric
Katie Couric is back on the mic with a new season of intimate, urgent and unexpected conversations – this time with a new twist. Along with her signature in-depth one-on-one interviews, she’ll be joined by a number of special guest-hosts for a series of “Katie Plus One” episodes. Together they’ll get to know some of the world’s most interesting and influential people and explore the big ideas percolating in the zeitgeist--but with a focus on slowing down, diving deep, and connecting with each other, a reprieve from a culture obsessed with hot takes and surface-level small talk. Tune in every Thursday and join Katie Couric and her guests for a conversation that feels like a warm hug and a seat at the table.

I love Katie and I’m a devoted fan of Ezra, but in the most recent episode, I had to wonder: are you a focus group trying to point out every flaw in the Harris camp or do you want to get her elected? Pick your purpose. This interview did zero favors for undecideds.
Production values . . .

. . . are lacking. The host sounds like she’s coming through string and a tin can. Segments aren’t leveled in volume, transition music is barely perceptible. And duplicate ads? X 4!? Whoa, who produces this show?
Katie Couric has an unfortunate “co-host”

Although I find Katie Couric’s cheerful air at times bordering on insincere and somewhat disingenuous the most egregious aspect of this podcast must be identified as the insufferably pretentious-for-nothing self-identified “co-host” who adds nothing that an AI-generated drone couldn’t contribute while imposing his Google search-derived know how on such matters as transgender political benchmarks on listeners with a shameless absence of humility, as though an authority on each and every topic covered, simply wretched programming. Otherwise I find her as most Americans do a comforting anchoring presence capable of steering conversations away from overly incendiary or circuitous terrain towards a positive stance, albeit always predictably shallow in terms of insightfulness and appreciation for deep understories, seemingly lost or willfully ignored by the seasoned broadcaster.
Loved the Hacks writers!

Wow, what a fun and informative and wonderful episode!! I didn’t realize the writers wrote for Broad city and the Mary Tyler Moore show was an inspiration for one of them! Love your podcasts!
