Korean Drama Podcast

I mean, I tried to tell my friends how insane SECRET GARDEN was … and they did not care! But Steve, Kim, and Kathy? They get it. This is a super-fun pod, and I look forward to more seasons!

I stumbled upon this podcast while searching for a substantive episode by episode discussion about the Pachinko series. Unfortunately, this ain't it. Half the time they don't even talk about the show and when they do it's superficial and usually irrelevant. They often waste time talking about inane things such as who's a "hottie" and criticizing utensil placement in a scene. If you just read a transcript of the podcast, you'd think the hosts were 3 teenagers talking about a show instead of the full-grown adults that they are.

When they do manage to talk about the show, they frequently ask one another about basic details. Who is that character? What is the name? How old is that person? Then argue about the guesses. Supposedly, one of them has read the book. If he ever remembers enough to clarify, another will disagree if it “rubs her brain the wrong way.” Other gems: “I didn’t think about the math that hard” (regarding dates that are given). “This seems like a Korean drama rather than a family drama made by an American”. (Too bad there is no way to know for sure). “I notice dress is a sign of status in this show.” Refers to the bankers/real estate developers as “property whatevers”. The list goes on. The rating would be is one star but adding one more due to the marvel of the inanity.

This podcast is fun to listen to! The reactions and discussions are entertaining to listen to. I hope they’ll continue with more episodes and include Vincenzo, It’s Ok to Not Be Ok, and Crashing Landing On You!
