Leadership REvisited

Innerwealth with Chris Walker

G'day and welcome! It's hard to do good if you don't feel good—an essential truth for those striving to make a difference, whether at work, at home, or in the world. Today, we'll explore the profound impact of living an inspired life and delve into the nuances of feeling good. We'll distinguish between fleeting gratification and lasting fulfillment, vision, inspiration, and purpose.

So, grab a seat, take a breath, and let the soothing sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks and children playing in the distance create a peaceful backdrop as we embark on this journey together.

Ever had one of those days when nothing seems to go right? Maybe you've felt irritable, tired, while struggling to keep up with life's demands. On such days, isn't it challenging to be kind, generous, or creative? That's because doing good when you don't feel good is undeniably tough. Feeling good underpins so much in life, yet many confuse it with a quick fix or instant gratification.

Instant gratification—like enjoying food, binging Netflix, or purchasing something shiny online—is a prevalent pursuit in today's world. These short-term pleasures feel great at the moment, but they don't provide lasting satisfaction. They are akin to applying a bandaid on a broken arm; the happiness they offer is fleeting, leaving us chasing the next high, the next quick fix.

Contrast those fleeting moments with what I call the long-term feel-good VIP—Vision, Inspiration, and Purpose. These are not about momentary delights but rather about being driven by something larger than oneself. Attaining clarity on your vision, inspiration, and purpose is crucial for sustainable, long-term fulfillment.

Vision: Your North Star

Vision is your guiding light—the destination you are striving towards. It's far more than just the next job or holiday. Without a vision, it's easy to feel lost in the everyday grind, leading to feelings of being drained and directionless. This often results in a return to quick fixes for relief. But with a clear vision, every challenge becomes a stepping stone toward your goal, pulling you forward instead of being pushed by stress.

Inspiration: The Fuel

Inspiration is not about fleeting motivational talks or YouTube clips; those fade quickly. True inspiration is internal, linking your values to your actions. It's the internal fire that keeps you going, even on tough days. It's the 'why' behind what you do. When you're inspired, you feel good regardless of external circumstances, tapping into a greater energy source.

Purpose: Your Anchor

Purpose is your stabilizing force, akin to a lighthouse. It grounds you, providing value not just for yourself but for the world too. When living with purpose, you become focused and resilient, feeling good about your journey because it's aligned with your true self.

Chasing short-term feel-goods drains us, leading to burnout. However, aligning with vision, inspiration, and purpose taps into a deeper energy reservoir that can sustain a lifetime. Next time you're feeling off, ponder whether you're seeking a quick feel-good hit or neglecting your vision, inspiration, and purpose.

Remember, starting to do good in the world begins with feeling good within yourself, which requires more than sensory inputs like taste or sights—it's rooted in your vision, inspiration, and purpose. Access your inner resources, because no one deserves better or worse than how you treat yourself.

If you believe this resonates with someone, please share it. It's crucial to witness the world feel good by starting with each individual, beginning with our hearts, vision, inspiration, and purpose.

Bye for now.
