    Interview: Jesse Colin Young of The Youngbloods Talks 'Get Together,' Elephant Mountain, Felix Pappalardi, Song for Juli + More

    In this episode of the LEGENDS: Podcast by All Day Vinyl, host Scott Dudelson engages an in=depth conversation with Jesse Colin Young, co-founder and lead singer of the legendary band, the Youngbloods. During this special episode, Young reflects on his riveting six-decade-long career, from the timeless anthems of the Youngbloods to his impactful solo journey.

    As we dive deep into Young’s career, he shares his enduring bond with the songs he penned during the inspiring ’70s singer-songwriter movement and reflects on his experiences recording in solitude, battling stage fright and recording iconic songs.

    Young shares tales from the Greenwich Village folk scene of the early 1960’s and details an open mic event where he encounters Buzzy Linhart singing ’Get Together’ - a song that would change his life and become one of the most important songs of the 1960’s.  We talk about the recording of ”Soul of a City Boy’ in one take - Young’s first album in 1964, as well as reflections on the studio sessions with Felix Pappalardi on the first Youngbloods album (which featured ”Get Together”)

    Young shares anecdotes from his San Francisco days, his move to the countryside, engagement with the SF psychedelic scene, the creation process behind the acclaimed album, ‘Elephant Mountain’, his connection with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin (who covered Young’s song ”Darkness, Darkness”) and the recent digital release of his solo catalog including ”Perfect Stranger” a solo album recorded in 1982 and just released digitally for the first time. Jesse Colin Young is a fantastic storyteller and vividly shared stories from his 60 year career.

    Welcome to the LEGENDS: Podcast by All Day Vinyl.  In this episode, our host Scott Dudelson leads a conversation with legendary drummer Matt Sorum of Guns N’ Roses, The Cult, Velvet Revolver, Kings of Chaos and more. 

    Our chat spans a wide range of rock and roll topics including Sorum’s work with Billy Gibbons, including producing Gibbons’ 2021 solo album ’Hardwire,”  Sorum’s friendship with Lemmy of Motorhead and the wisdom Ringo Starr shared regarding the Guns N’ Roses ”Not In This Lifetime”  reunion concerts. Sorum also talks about and shares incredible stories behind a couple of iconic photographs: a photo of The Cult taken for NME magazine cover from 1989 & Guns N’ Roses Rolling Stone magazine cover from 1991.

    Sorum is an awesome storyteller and shares many amazing anecdotes about his career and the legends with whom he plays and produces.  We loved chatting with him and we hope you enjoy the conversation too.

    Sam and Scott join the LEGENDS podcast to discuss the bands amazing legacy, their new blues album ”Sam’s Place” which features Sam Clayton singing lead vocals on every song, Little Feat history and a sneak peek of a new album, already completed, and featuring brand new Little Feat songs and eyed for a 2025 release. 

    Sam Clayton has been a member of Little Feat since 1972 and in this episode we not only discuss his time in Little Feat but his work with Delaney & Bonnie and his stint playing with Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band during Feat’s hiatus in the 1980’s.

    Little Feat’s newest member guitarist/singer Scott Sherrard also shares tales from his storied history which includes playing in blues clubs as a teenager with legends like Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins as well as his role as music director for Gregg Allman.

    In this second part of All Day Vinyl’s LEGENDS Podcast interview with music producer Mark Howard, we look behind the scenes on the recording of Neil Young’s Le Noise & Tom Waits Real Gone album sessions, and remixing of Joni Mitchell’s debut album ”Song to a Seagull”

    Immerse yourself in the world legends as Mark shares first-hand accounts of their quirks and idiosyncrasies.  In the first part of the episode we dig into the production of Le Noise by Neil Young which was produced by Daniel Lanois and recorded/mixed by Mark Howard.
